and welcome to "news4 midday." i' meghan fitzgerald. >> i'm pat lawson muse. we begin today with the looming future for the governor of virginia. >> it comes as the governor continues to resis calls to resign. david culveraseen in richmond since the story broke. are we learning anything new this morning? >> reporter: we know that top destination officials have said that the governor is still trying to fight to regain his trust. a lot of folks are asking the question, "a," how long is that going to take and "b" is that even possible when you talk to other democrats here on capitol square, they're saying that's t a reality. the governor, though, pushing forward in his refusal to step out of his position. it's interesting, though, as you make theay rounds t as capitol trying to get a sense of the

mood, lawmakers are saying they have no time for this. this is one of the busiest days for them. they're trying to focus ong gett bills out of theirrs chamo the other chambers and trying to actually get their jobs done and pass laws. the reality, though, this looms over them and it's something they can't see past as of now. >> as he delays making a decision about what to do, the lieutenant governor justin li fairfax is d with his own issue now, a sex assault algation that he denies. he's calling it a smear campaign. what else are you learn about that today? >> reporter: we heard late yestday from the lieutenant governor. today he's back in the senate session presiding over the senate. yesterday he fed some of those suggestions that hht have been part of a smear campaign as you put it, that somebody may have pnted these stories and the question was asked, do you think its governor northam's team, do you think it's the mayor of richmond's team?

he said youre good reporters, you can figure it out on your own and talking to senior staff members who are connected with the lieutenant governor, they're pushingn back e farther. they do not believe this is part of a smear campaign. this insinuati is spreading rather quickly and i had to reach out to lavar eyston team. the insinuation00 is 1% untrue. i also reach out and heard from the governor staff via twitter, the first time we're hearing from them after saturday's press conference and they said this is 100% untrue of the a lot of folks pushing back against that. we wanted to know is this allegation against lieutenantav governor hing any sway when it comesng to kee his support from democratic lawmakers. we heard from one and i want y to take a listen. >> it's a tough, tough allegation and we'll have to sit back and gather, you know, whateverutinformation's there. i don't know what else to say.

struck by a dark colored suv and authorities say the driver just kept going northboundh on 4t street. news4 on scene early this morning. the investigationhi shut down roadway for hours overnight as police collect clues, working to learn more about the victim, the striking vehicle and its driver. neighbors point out that this two-lane four way crossing has working crossing signals at each corner and what they see too much of here they say, is speeding cars. you are lking live at that street sign saying the suggested speed limit here is 15 miles an hour. that is something neighbors say wish that more drivers would pay attention to. it's unknown that in is case he overnight if speed was a factor. the investigation is still rolling out. ewever, people in neighborhood say they are constantly seeing speeding cars go up and down this roadway at all hours of night. waiting toe still learn more about the investigation, what it turns up

our choreography is a tap dancer's theo tap in this show, but a lot of it is about adding a lot of flare and flavor, a lot of hips in there. a lot of jumping,nt the j this jumping. he wanted to include a lot of those different itings. s an ensemble show. only five people in the cast. we get a chance to work with each other and feed off of each other's energy and he's created a nicel little tra pattern for a lot of things so -- everyone there's not a bad seat in the house, basically, because you get to see everyone and everything. >> there's not b a song in the production. your vorites.
