through a home. they say they found bullets scattered through their home in montclair. bullets hit the walls throughout the house, including outside of their child's inroom. ce william county police say someone fired nearly a dozen shots early monday morning. seven hit the zahid home. no one was injured. police do not believe theamily was targeted. they have reached out to their homeowner's association to beef up protection but so far say nothing has been done. >> i'm supposed to be able tot proty family, but you know, you rely on your neighborhood and community to provide a little ease of mind or peace of mind. what happens when you reach out to them and they give you none? >> the home ener's association refused to answer questions from our news 4 crew and asked them to leave. however, the local police . partment says it is increasing patrols in that ar just about 7 after the hour now. one of the most dangerous and deadliest roads in our yaarea i

getting much-needed attention. route 210 has been bumped to the top of the construction priority list. news 4 justin finch is following the details for us. justin, what type of wore are talking about here? >> reporter: well, aaron, eun, right now currently a county priority. the hope is to raise it to a state priority as well. doing something to improve the roadway, to make it safer and overall make the road better for 210, just in every single way possible. this, of course, a is clear concern for people who live off the road, fors drivers a well as county eorges leadership. on tuesday, we saw the council back the cnty executive's call for the state to help fund improvements here, to make the road more efficient, but of course safe as well. the goal here is to avoid tragedy as we saw back in december those three children who were killed after an alleged drunk driver crashed into the vehicle that they were in. the county council saying, look,

are pretty deep. they can cau l a of damage, as you just heard. now repair crews are out ere. they a patching the holes. but it is a very big job. they actuall need your help. drivers are being encouraged to report any problems that they encounter because the crews don't know where to go to make the repairs unless people report those trouble spot. now, why are things so bad this year? transportation officials say it's the wild weather we've been having. >> a lot of it is really because of the weather. we saw heavy volumes of rain this year. and that freeze/thaw cycle imally cts the roads and increases the number of potholes. >> reporter: now, in the district of columbia to report a pothole, the easie thing to do would be to download their d.c. 311 ap it's free. they've got just kind of a program there wheren you click it, report the pothole, able to give the location, so they know actly where to go. now, this is a region wide

today. democrat congresswomen standing th and cheering during last night's state o union. the moment of unity came after president trump acknowledged that more women are now serving in congress tha ever before. but the cheers didn't last. last night was president trump' second statee union but his first before a divided congress. with nancy pe lopelosi, the spe of the house signature over his oulder. >> the president dug in on topics that divided washington for weeks now. that included his demand for money for a wall along the southe u.s. border. the president says crime is increasing due to undocumented immigrants getting into the country. and to support his t message president invited the family of a couple that was killed by an undocumentedt, immigr according to officials. the speech took a local turn, too, when the president mentioned virginia governor ralph northam's abortion policy. >> and then we had the case of the governor of virginia where he stad he would execute a

our local roads, nearly 2,000 were reported in d.c. lasonth compared to just 500 in the previous janu transportation officials say keeping up has been a real challenge. >> it's about the freeze/thaw cy he and thevy volume of rain which saturates the ground, causes that condition and in so m caseses it much worse, depending on the nature of the weather. that also affects our ality to fill them. if it's raining or snowing, we're not able to get out there fill them as soon as the roads dry, we are out there repairing them. >> this morning, news 4 megan mcgrath is t trackin problem in northwest d.c. she's live with what she's seeing out there. hey, megan. >> reporter: yeah, hey, guys. we have moved on to alexandria. we got a report that there was etty rough pavemenhere, potholes on north howard street. so we're looking for that area at this po but, it's been a really difficult time for potholes. lots of drivers have encountered them. lots of people have experienced damage.

and it's probably only going to get worse.ll now, the rain that we've had, that frigid temperatures and thenhe swing to swing-like temperatures, that's what's s using the problem. the water just ginto the cracks and the phalt, it then freezes and then thaws and that causes the potholes to form. and so that's why things e so bad right now.u an really damage your car when these get deep. aan just paid hundreds of dollars to havear his fixed. >> flattened my tire the other day overn southeast. literally ran over the pothole and tire blew out. i had to drive on the tire to get som help. was nuts. it really was. >> reporter: yeah, it can really be t expensive some damage that people are experiencing out there. it's not a goosituation. now, your help is needed. drivers need to report the
