a leadership spot with the democratic attorney general's association. in richmond, i'm julie carey, news 4. >> now to the allegations of a sexuault against lieutenant governor justin fairfax and a graphic and emotional statement from his accuser. news leon harris continues our team coverage now with what she says happened. leon? >> jim, dr. vanessa tyson is a college professor and she says a proud democrat. she's the one accusing lieutenant governor justinir x of sexual assault. tyson has taken a leave of absence i california. today she released in graphic detail an account of wha she says occurred in 2004. she says a kiss led to the assaul and that fairfax has tried to brand her as a liar to a national audience to service his political ambitions. she says in rt, i cannot believe, given my obvious distress, that mr. fairfax thout this forced sexual act was consensual. not wanty clear, i did

what were to happen if one of these men were forced to resign as a result of everything that's been going on here. governor northam said he's going to continueerng as long as he can govern. if he did step down, lieutenant governor justin fairfax would plac him. if fairfax is not able to serve, attorney general mark herring. if all three are forced out, then it falls to the speaker of the house, in this case the republican, kirk cox from the hampton rhodes area. according t the virginia constitution, if cox ie unabl to serve then the house of delegates woulde to fill that vacancy. at the same time, we're also hearing from virginia's two senators, mark warner andim kaine, both former governors here in virginia a well. they called for governor northam to resign after the scandalt abhe yearbook photos, the racist photos about governor northam camehto l senator kaine has also made some statements. he's addressedhese new allegations against both the lieutenant governor fairfax and attorney general herring. he did not call for either of them to resign. >> it's all been shocking.

you have to let anyoneseith a al assault claim decide when and how to tell their story and you shouldn't prejudge it before they d until i just read the story, dr. tyson was really not out telling her own story. now i've read that statement. it's very serious. the allegation about the attorney general obviously very serious. he is in very significant dialogue with the legislative black caucus. i'm certainly not in a position to tel them h they should or shouldn't feel about this, but i am deeply interestedn how they feel about this, so those areco ersations that i'll certainly be having. >> reporter: now senator kaine says he needs more time to make ahe decisioner he would ask for lieutenant governor fairfax or the attorney general to step downr if he thinks that should happen. in the meantime, he is standing by his call for the governor ralph northam to step down. the rest of us wait to see what the next shoe is to drop. >> aaron gilchrist reporting. aaron staying on this story. he'll be liv in richmond tomorrow morning on "news 4 today" tun in from 4:00 to 7:00

impact or our temperatures. 51 in flredericksburg. richmond is 64 degrees right now. so we've got very warm air just to the south. my big question is can it get here by tomorrow? a big ice storm movg our way. the kansas city area, they're under an ice storm warning. a lotf rain, even a tornado warning earlier around tennessee. all this warm air trying to move its w into our area. it's going to have a hard time getting here. i've lowered the temperatures for tomorrow down to 56. it's really amazing the range ow temperatur could have tomorrow. maybe upper 40s to the south, we could be around 60, maybe 62 degrees. ju you know, a range of temperatures area wide. a shower possible. maybe a little drizzle at times. not a bad idea to keephe umbrella handy, but i don't think you'll need it most of the day. 59 on friday, but, again, that is deceiving. turning much colder and becoming
