i'm on lucketts corner near stumptown road and yesterday they say it got cold y here, t had a real ice storm here, and a woman went out to cleanup the bris from that storm and then she became a victim of it. today still some ice on the tree limbs, today still some ice on the ground. but yesterday -- yesterdayhey say it was far, far worse. >> we had about a quarter inch or so of ice on the trees here. we actually had one break and fall, take dn our power line. you can see it on the ground back there treacherous situation. limbs were falling all over the place. ice was coming out of the trees hitting cars. >> reporter: during that storm police say melanie came outside r house on stumptown road. there they say she beganupicking fallen tree limbs and stacking them in the yard. but as s di police say, she

was struck by a falling tree branch and knocked to the ground. they say she was b discovered a family member who called for help about 8:30 last night. ms. rose died at the hospital around 5:00 this morning. she was 52 years old. mark payton is her next door number. >> what happened to her last night was the type of pe on she she was out working in her yard, lovedtr flowers, loves. she was a nice lady, always wave and speak to you. very shocking. >> reporter: very shocking indeed. it's uncar as to exactly when ms. rose was hit by that fallen treeimb or how long she was on the ground before she was discovered and the 911 call for help was made. pat and leon back to you.

coordinator. a source close to the investigatio tells me it nvolves alleged inappropriate conversations in the form of text messages exchanged between wach lockwood and the student. tonight we spoh some of the duval high school students here as they let out. what's your reaction to theact that coach lockwood has been placed on leave for inappropriate contact with female student? >> honestly, i'm actually shocked because i know that tn, you know, ersonally. because i know him because he's like that man, and that's the reason why we're ocked. >> yeah, everybody's talking about coach lockwood, how role model to everybody in the school, the athletes, the udents, everybody. >> i think he's a great man, he's a father figure to a lot of kids in the county area. this is sad situation right now and i hope he'll fight through it. >> reporter: now, heagain, conduct being alleged is inapprriate contact with a

contractors. all four senators from virginia and maryland cosponsored a bill to get the contractors paid but president trump is pushing back on this. why has this sticking point? >> reporter: according to senator roy blunt, he told reporters perhaps federal contractors are different fromn employeesresident trump's eyes. some republicans have been pushingayackg that the in the past contractors have not gotten back pay during previous shutdowns. keep in mind, that all of this is something that is goi to have to be worked out. president trump will have to ultimately sign this bill before friday night. congress has a deal but nothing is done until president trump signs it, and he is making no promises without first seeing the bill in writing. >> well, we haven't gotten it

out one. >> i don't want to see a shutdown. a shutdown would be a terrible thing. >> instead considering executive action to redirect money to help pay for the wall. and the houseik willy vote on this bill late tomorrow. pat? >> all right, thanks, blayne. we've some more breaking news just in. releasing an anticipated list oe priests who credibly accused of sexually abusing minor under mounting pressure dioceses around the country have been releasing similar lists. according to "the washington post" at least two t of the priests in the arlington dioceses have been charged criminally. all of the 16 priests onli the have either been removed from the public ministry are deceased. the bishop released a statement today are reading,quote, for victims and survivors of sexual abuse by members of the clergy i remain open to meeting with you and hearingour stories.

the n-word there in the school. what are your listeners hearing and saying about this? >> it's pretty disheartening for some of our lissners. for t area, it's such an affluent area, and such a s diversool they just wouldn't expect these kids wouldn't know right from wrong. d they think something like this would be funny and okay to do. this is black history month. even african-americans learning about that. it was definitely disheartening and many of ourte lrs were just so shocked, but others were like this is the life that wve in, this is the world that we live in. one of our listeners she shared her thoughts as well. >> people have gotten comfortable with racism. it's not being taken as seriously as it needs to be. unfortunately, it's the climate of the country with everything going on. >> full disclosure, my children aduated from that school a few

a local man abducted a 3-year-old girl and held her captiv now the kidnapper is about to be free, but it's where he's headet hat has so many concerned. and what scott mcfarland and the news 4 i-team found is triggering calls for someone to intervene. >> reporter:d snowy new year's day in 2002 might feel like a lifetime ago but it doesn' for the mother of alicia. >> she's been through physical abuse, emotionalabuse. >> reporter: that day he drove to pittsburgh with the sole purpose of kidnapping 13-year-old alicia whom he'd lured online. he held her hostage where he sexually abused her. it triggered a national manhunt. >> we've all anxiety of emotional abuse in our family. >> reporter: a prosecutor sent m to federal prison in north

carolina. 17 years later tiry looks much different, and the news 4 i-team learned he's just weeks ay from being released back to the public. he's now finishing his sentence in a halfway house. but the halfway house isn't in north calina or fairfax county. it's in this building. in pittsburgh. >> he's out of prison, now we are in prison.ep >>ter: just 4 minutes from where the family still lives. the feds placed him here and are preparing to release him into this community. >> there's no reason h oshould problem, and as long as he's here he's going to beal our problem because it's terrifying. >> reporter: it's the u.s. bureau of prisons that decided where to place scott tiry. they provided an i-team with a document showing the five things considered when placing including the nature of the offense and also the history of the offender. the agency declined our request for comment about his close
