it'salentine's day as well. i'm cory smith. >> and i'm erika gonzalez and we begin ts mid-day with a developing story right here in the district whe there's been a tedly shooting in northeast. >> one man dead, another person wounded after shots rang out on hamlin street. >> let's get t straight justin finch who's been on the scene all morning. >> reporter: good mornin when we joined you during news4 today we were not allowed anywhere near the crime scene of the now within the past hour that crime tape has come down, police have left the scene here and we are now feet away from where that gunfire took place a here that trojan labor office building right bind us. d.c. police on scene of that double shooting minutes after sunrise. canines called in, a forensics team hard at work where two men were shot and seriously injured. both rushed to the hospital with oneun prod dead a short time later. >> we had a lone gunman walked into the a store opened fire

on two of the folks in the otfice area. >> reporter: the sg happened at this staffing office called trojan laborff o of 1700 blink of ham street northeast. the office was open at the time and investigators are now speaking with witnesses. this time they don't believe the suspect knew those twovictims. >> we don't know what the motive nas in the case. >> reporter: earlyhis investigation, the chief says officers had been able to gather some details about the suspect. >> appears to be an adult male. he's taller in height so maybe 5'11" to 6'2" in height. he was wearing a multi-colored p with white that ran down the sleeves and along the shoulder and was black towards the bottom. his pants were black and he was wearing a mask and he was wearing gloves. >> reporter: and we are backou live as heard a very detailed description of that shooter looking live n at the door to that business where that shooting took place earlier thi.

morn again, that gunman in this case was able to flee on foot going westbound here on hamlin northeast. there is surveillance video we are told,too, police will process that and release in t hopet someone out there that someone knows who that gunman is. >> thank you. in the district the metro ard is debating whether to restore late night operations have years of shortened hours. a vote on the matter is expected soon. they have been operating on a shorchned sule to do crews additional time to do large scale maintenance. they want to keep those reduced hours in place. city leaders like the mayor believe it's time to restore the old schedule and allow trains to run later at night and longer on e weekends. our transportation reporter adam tuss is in the board meeting tweeting update. it has been discussed fnd years now the state of maryland and federal transportation officials are doing the study to look at where

for prosecution. policerrested this 37-year-old yesterday. he's a track coach and security officer at colonial forge high school of the it's not clear if the minor was a student at the school of the meanwhile, football coach in prince george's county has been suspende accused of inappropriate interactio wh a female student. he was place on leave. sources tell news4 the investigation involves unappropriate text messages exchanged between lockwood and the student. some parents are mncerned,y students are defending their coach. >> he's a goodcoach. he's an inspiration to all of us. >> i don't think he would really to something like that. it doesn't sound like him >> he's a good man and that's the reason why we're shocked, you know. he's a really good coach. >> lockwood faces no criminal charges at this point. he's worked at the high scho for nearly eight years. a federal judge is ruled that former campaign chairman

mpaulanafort lied to robert mueller. he's accused a of lyingbout three times, once about p tments mao an unidentified law firm and tce about interactions and communications with a ukrainian associate. the judge says becau of these lies, prosecutors are now released from a deal they made with manafort in which they recommended he be given ali ghter prison sentence of the that deal was contingent uran his cooon with the investigation. the judge ruled that prosecutors were unable to provide enoughen ev that manafort lied intentionally about other statements, specifically about hisct con with the trump administration. manafort's sentencing date is set for march 13h. in georgetown, funeral services are being held for former congressman john dingell. you're seeing steny hoyer speak to the people gathered there at his serv the democrat from michigan was the country's longest serving member of congress. he died last week at 92 years old.
