as these cars are coming down here hitting the pothole after pothole. we have driven around the entire region and seen so many potholes from our area as we've shown from chopper 4. when you want toind out if the roads are gotten worse, you go a cab driver who's been dri driving around the area for years. i asked him if he thinks they've gotten worse. take a listen. >> yes. >> why? >> we're struggling with them all the time. >> struggling wh them? >> yes, you have to avoid them. when you avoid them, basically you -- you almost create an accident. horribly eople drive in the city, that's why. >> reporter: road creware still saying that you should absolutely report these when you dee them. but keep in min it's going to be ahe while before t can get to these, and the winter weather we're going to have as welng that's goi to create some n issues. so ie meantime we're dealing with guys like this.

4:17 pm
right now we're dealing with temperatures in the 40s temperatures have fallen. look at the wind gusts, 36 mile an hour in d.c. 40 mile an hour winds in annapol annapolis. so this wind bringing air.lder it's all because of high pressure. seeing theason we're wind today is why we'll see the snow on wednesday. it's because of that guy, hig pressure, you need an area of low pressure, a storm, but that's way down to the south. this is a classic pattern in our region. the setup is called cold air damming. the cold air, high pressure sends cold air down from the north and that cold air sits just east of the mountains, it will be warmer to the west, around pittsburgh, they'll go to rain much faster than we buare. in our area, cold air settles down around the blue ridge and the appalachians across the east. that's why this is going to be snow. you go this far north back to
4:18 pm
the west, it's all rain around areas of because of that high pressure we get into the snow with the cold air damming situation. why this is going to be snow and ice is going to be a major factor as well. let's take you through it hour o by hou future weather. tomorrow night, 6:00, no problem. if you want toth go t store today, tomorrow, no problem. tomorrow is going to be a great day. i'll be a little bit on the cool side. no problem even through 11:00. then here comes the change. 5:00 a.m. starting to see the snowg in and this wilbel all snow for everybody around 8:00 in the morning. that, of course, is going to shutdown traffic. that means rush hour is going to be delayed and that's why i think we'll be talking school closures a delays. because everybody gets this. look around noon,no stillng around the area p. here comes ice making its way to e gion. before ice, how much snow? 1 to 2 inches to the soum. going 2 to 4 around the metro area.
4:19 pm
4 to up to the rth, hagerstown and frederick. we could get more, this is something i'm goio be tracking for you. but i like 2 to 4 in the city. aftereshe snow c the ice. look at how much of the a a sees ice oere. this is sleet and freezing rain right on through the rest of the afternoon. again this is why i think so many of the schools will justn plclose. even wednesday at 6:00 we're dealing with rain in d.c. but still seeing freezing rain back to the west. thiss going to be a nasty scenario across our region before it changes to rain as the warmer air moves in. wednesday rush hour, a mess. numerous schools closed or delayed. and ice,ye will be a major issue, especially to the areas north and west. at's why amelia is up there snow board -- that's right she's a snow border not a skier. it is going to be a mess even up that way. >> yeah, absolutely because as you were saying, snow is one thing, ice is another.
