closing school in our area. doug is back in 2 1/2 minutes to break town the snow, the ice and the rain. > tonight parents say they felt singled out by their son'sn private chris school because of their sexuality. now they're the face of a bill that would all private schools to be sued for alleged discrimination. news megan fitzgerald spoke with one of the boy's mothers today abouthat led t all of this. >> like any good parents, tee yaw na hawkins and her ex-wife anisha want to make sure their 7-year-old son gets a good education. at's why they chose national christian academy, which is a private school in for washington. tiana says she and her family have enjoyed their experience, but last may that changed when they received this invitation for i amother's day a. >> they specified on the invitation only one mother or one mother figure allowed per child. so since we have two moms our family, of course that was cause for concern for us.

be by 6:00, 7:00 in the morning. that's when most people are getting up and ready for work. do thinkhe morning rush is going to be a problem because of the snow. the afternoon rush because of the rain and the ice. >> afternoon hours, snow heavy inpots during the afternoon hours. really looking northwest of the beltway foreally impressive ice concerns. >> the storm system makinwa its our way. you can already see the snow moving in. the atmosphere at the surface very dry. it's going to take a lot of time to actually moisten the atmosphere so it does reach the ground. snowing down in roanoke. for us, coming in a little bit later on some of the computer models. here it is 6:00 a.m., still not in the district. earlier it was looki like maybe 5:00 a.m. some of that ting snow as it comes on in. by 7:00, 8:00, and comg down heavily by 8:00, 9:00, 10:00, by 11:00, switching down to the uth and possibly farther north

here. that's what we're watching pep when does that changeove happen? that's what we've been talking about for days. by 1:30, you notice moste of area now over to ice. let's talk about how much snow we t, really through about noon tomorrow. 1 to 3 to the south, including fredericksburg. 2 to 4 in manisis over to d.c. same deal to the north. 4, possibly up to as much as 7. 4y inches pre good for areas like leesburg and parts of montgomery county. then, guys, it is the ice the west. what i mean by that is the ice is going to be a major factor. in the green here, low impact from ice, but rht around parts of montgomery county, western fairfax, you could see cting of ice that could add to the roadways. big time ice problems, u to 1/4 inch or more. that could bring power outages. more on what you can expect in your area, here is amelia. >> we're goi zone by zone snarting with the d.c. metro zone. moving into the area between 5:00 and 7:00 a.m.

for everybody, snow is falling heavily at times during the first half of the day between noon and 3:00. sleet, f aezing rainoss the area. in the d.c. metro area, maybe a glaze of ice, especially in montgomery, fairfax and parts of prince william counties. by 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the d.c. metro area, it is all rain. a very l chance we continue to see freezing rain after 5:00 p.m. in the d.c. metro area. out to our western zone here, the conce for ice starts to happen between 5:00 and 6:00. between about 11:00 and 5:00 p.m. freezeing raiing rain to s. up to 2/10 of an inch of ice. we will be dealing with power outages and treacherous travel between aboutnd 5:00 11:00 p.m. temperatures continue to warm actually. ethere is just the chaor pockets of freezing rain, mainly in the higher elevations.
