started rolling around on the ground? how did this all kind of play out? >> after it jumped on me, i tried to throw it off of me. unfortunately its mouth was still pretty wrapped around my wrist and claws dug into my ock. we tumbl the side of the trail together and went downslope. luckily how we tumbled i was able to kind of get on top of the cat. >> y're on topf the cat and reaching for whatever -- i should point out, you are about r'10", you're 155 and trying to be larhan life. you pick up rocks and sticks, just anything how is the cat reacting? >> the cat is pretty much just clawing. it still has my wrist in its mouth w thele time. >> i think i read you had a mountain lioth or something lodged in your hand? >> the tooth didn't stay. it was latched. so one tooth wasn my wrist and

the other was in the meat side of my hand. it was kind of like on both sides trapped in there. >> you get to a point where you've got to do something. this is all probably hap0ning in seconds. how did it come to you that you've got to sort of strangle this cat? >> i knew sin i couldn't get at the airway with stick or something, the only thing i had because i didn't have any weapons was a foot. i didn't have a free hand. i was able to kind of reposition -- >> are you laying down and then you kind of roll over? i'm trying to visualize how this >> i was kind of crouched on top of it. imagine my wrist in its mouth. i pinned its backegs with my left knee so i wouldn't get scratched on that end. i was ae to swing my right leg around, some twistert movem right there. >> and then you basically put

your foot on theai mou lion's neck. so you waited there. did you not have a phone or ything with you? >> no, i didn't. >> you just start that state that you're in? >> yep. >> can we just back up for a second because your foot on the mountain lion's neck and you're basically trying t suffocate the mountain lion. how long did that take? i'm sure it felt like ten years. >> it did feel like ten years. i would sayeveral minutes. there were moments when i would feel like i'd periodically stop moving and then it would starts thg again. so a couple of those cycles and then finally i felt pretty convinced it was done. and it actually released my hand at thatpoint. >> which brings -- so you run and you eventually text your girlfriend annie who is here. what did that text say tlex it was wild. >> hey love. i'm in a meeting. i can't answer.

training. my doctor lifted all the restrictions. it's about getting back on track ere we need to be. >> take us back to that moment because i think lifeo weird. on monday your life is totally normal. and then onuesday everything just flips and changes. so you were feeling, nathan, like something wasn't right in your body? what were you feeling? >> well, you notice something is wrong. >> what was it? >> and then you start to watch it >> to be honest, it was down there, something was swollen. it was and then you kind of watch it for a couple days. hey, is this betting better. if it's getting better, we can get back on tritk. wasn't. in a couple days you've got to call your doctor and say, hey, hopefully this is nothing, but we've got to look into it. that's something i learned from my mom who is a nurse, my sister, my sister and law are both physician's assistants. if there's something wrong, you have to check it out. >> you connect with the doctors. there's the prognosis and the discussions about treatment.

what about theal emoti impact. in that moment how do you deal that? >> it's hard. it's hard. one of the reasons i decided to say and open up about this and be public about it, one-third of americans are going to sit down with the doctor and they're going to say, hey, we got your test results back otd they're what we hoped. that's hard. that's not something they prepare you forhon . you feel so alone and so isolated. the more i looked into it, ere's so many people that go through it, too, as i opened up about it, so many people even in my own social circles reached out to me saying, hey, me, too. i had n idea. >> getting that diagnosis is scary because i think even know ing -- hearing the word has to weigh on you. you went right into the mode of let'e care of this. >> for testicular cancer, ultrasound is ultimately what the diagnosis tool is.

you get the ultrasound results back and when they're not what we hoped for, you schedule surgery. but with the medical system, it's a little bit of hurry up and wait. after surgery, you have toa wai ittle bit for your pathology results. after pathology results you have to -- you make more decisions. this isn't black and white. it is, y, you know, given what we know, this is the outcomed baff of this treatment path, this treatment path and this treatment path. i had a lot of great doctors who are willing to sit down and spend a lot of time withme, explaining what each meant, and we tried to make the best informed decion that wecould. >> in the past few months, we're beating wncer,re training for tokyo and oh r, by the way, another major development in her life. and her name is -- >> ali. >> is she here? >> she's here. >> you guys newly married?

while that's happening you'll bring your chicken out and let itome to roomtour. you want to get all those beautiful juices that you just made, you're going to make that into your sauce. >> i would have thrown that out cause it was in raw chicken. >> you're going to cook it because it's going to be okay. very right. you don't want to eat something that's been with raw chicken. once you do, you'll salt and pepper these guys. and you wan to say they these -- i didn't put it up high enough. when you'reme, you want that sizzling, two or three minutes on each side. you don't haveo worry about cooking it all the way through because it's going to go back in the oven. >> a lot of steps he. >> lot of steps, but so worth it. when you put all thatntit. >> those bread crumbs at the end? >> bread crumbs at the end. you saute them with se butter and get them nice and crispy. you want to then get somear
