>> announcer: the news4 at 4:00. a terrifying scene unfolding as we come on the air today. a baby gir kidnapped when a thief -- >> the baby was found safe just -- >> reporter: let me show you what it looked like after that 1-year-old was found in northeast d.c. this is video of the child being taken from the location where the child l wasated to be reunited with its mother after being takenn the mother's vehicle. now the mother was parked outside the gas station and -- here in seat pleasant and the child was in the car, somebody stole that vehicle. as we speak right now seat pleasant police are still oking for the vehicle, working along with d.c. police to try and figure out what exactly

a social media sexting scheme in a high school. >> this involvestu ps of underage girls found on several snapchat accounts. >> the investigation started at robinson high school, but spread to several more cory smith has a look at how a open.nt broke this case cory, tell us about that. >> reporter: another student was postg naked photo of underage girls in a snapchat grouth e are multiple suspects in this case, and potentially multipleea victims s out across campuses here in fairfax. this allegedly happened two weeks ago, a school resource officer was the first to be notified. police have identifiedthe studho runs the account according to sources. the other students also had access to it. all of those students are now

being considered suspects. we kno at leasne victim has been identified, but there could be many more because according to police a message was poste to the group asking for pictures of other female student from at least four other high schools in fairfax, including west springfield and lake braddock high school amongthem. police are looking at a dozen different snapchatac unts. a lot of parents we spoke to at robinson high are just learning about the investigati buthey are not surprise d that something like this could have . happen >> it infuriates me. i would a be all over that in second and i'd be trying to hunt down the kids doing it and talking to e parent >> anything you put out there, will be out there forever. it'll never g away. you never want to share anything like that. >> reporter: police tell multiple students have turned over their cell phones and have been questioned. but right now know chargesave been filed. we also reached out to fairfax

county public schools, they would only saywa they are of the investigation. we'll have more at 5:00 and 6:00 but for now we'll send it back to you. >> thank you, cory. we're learning more about the man killed in a hit and run in tyson, theic v altiasg w leesburg pike. police have not yet identified the man but we spoke to an employee at a gas station nearby who said the victim was one of his workers. >> he's very nice. you know, he's very gentle man. he's a very gentle man. my heart is broke. >> the driver did not stay on the scene but so far there's little information on what type of vehle may have been involved. while the man's body was found inside the crosswalk it's unclear whether he was inside theines when stuck. more questions than answers

about the human remains found during the evening commute yesterday. a woman made the discovery yesterday just outside the beltway. chris gordon talked with her and he is live at the scene this evening. what did she shave to say, chri? >> reporter:ehe told m it was shterrifying. agreed to speak with us. she found the b at her bus stop across from where i'm standing. sh asked that we not use her name or show her face. >> i was terrified at firs it's not something that you want to see. as calm as i could, and i knew that i needed to call the i police. lt in my heart that it was the right thing to do. d i just -- i couldn't walk away. >> reporter: shealled 911 from the j 2 bus, they asked her if

she'd return and answer their questions about how she discovered the body. >> it s a black tarp or bag of some sort. it was some type of covering, andt had the draw string on it. and it -- it wa kind of open. so that's when i pulled it back legs. aw the two >> you saw two legs? >> um-hum. >> any clothing? >> no. >> could you tell if it was a man or woman? >> no, i could not. >> see any oes? no, not that i could see. >> reporter: detectives on the scene did not remove the bag from the body because it was windy ao they wanted preserve the evidence, sending the bag to the medical examiner's office. >> we want to determine the identification of the per we can make the appropriate notifications and we want to find out what happened, what's going onhere, and any evidence that might point to who may have done such a thing. >> reporter: i just received new information indicating that the victim, the body found in the i ba that of a man.

the crowd firing four more shots as the victim is laying floor.e the victim is seen laying on the floor bleeding from his le th suspect returns at one point beating the victim chair as two other suspects watch. the victim is sthen seen lungin at another suspect. later the female suspect wearing aackpack comes back looking for the fun which she fis. she's seen putting the gun in her backpack and heading toward the door. today police are asking for help identifying these suspects. >> it's horrible offense, which is why we have that video out there. we're asking the community to come forward and assist u i identifying these suspects.

the region. there's a little storm coming through pminneapolis,ts of wisconsin, towards parts of the great lakes. this moves just to our north, another just to the south. so we are just in the middle between the rmer air in the south and colder air to the north so we have average weather .or your wednesday and thursd school day forecast tomorrow, 33 degrees, starting chilly for sure. more cloud cover across the region 45 at recess, 49 by the time we'rehe picking up kids. then we have move into march, the first day of march jt a couple days away. this is the pattern as i mentioned, the cold air to the north, the warm air just to the south. i'm calling it mild because it's not all that warm. watch what happens here, that cold air plunges down across the entire eastern half of the nation. not just that we have storm

back now with a live look outside, doug and amelia say sn chances are in our future no matter how good this picture looks. there is a new law under consideration in maryland that will address weaknesses revealed by a news4 i-team investigation. a year ago this week, scott macfarlane showed loopholes in the safety n to protect maryland children from potential predators in the classroo >> now a legislature is pushing for changes in the law. >> the first couple weeks i was -- it was nerve wracking. >> how did this teacher who lost his job in florida for sexually laced texts with a stunt end

up in two different schools in maryland just months later. >> what i did wasn't really criminal at all. it was an ethical ste. >> reporter: the teacher is eric greco, we're not showing his face because he wasn't charged. he knew somehow calvert county and montgomery county public schools failed to find his troubled past. th >> why do you k you slipped through the cracks? >> i think tt some lev districts didn't do their due diligence. >> background check? >> complete background. >> the i-team found in 2016 the maryland state departmenf education for months had stopped checking names against a national data base that lists names of teachers whose licenses are revoked in other states. they said there were data c securicerns and it's up to school systems.

bothve c and montgomery county school systems said they didn't know the system w down. >> it's a state license. >> you need the state to tell you if a license has been revoked? >> that's correct. >> reporter: but both systems acknowledge they did not and often will not check with all prior ploye when they run background checks allowing this teacher to slip through until his past was discovered a year later when he was fi yd. >> when saw that report what did you think? >> it was heart wrenchingg knowin that was the only thing between possible predators and my children. >> reporter: he sponsored legislation requiring schools to do deeper background checks and inquiring with prior employers. >>anou think mar is weaker than the neighboring states when it comes to stopping predators. >> without a doubt. we don't do proper backgroun checks.

we've only had two dry weekends this entire year. looks like this weekend will be another wet one. you see not a lot going on in the country. here's where we are. straight west ishe normally our storms come from. we have one to the south and one to the north they're going to kind of beeline around us. so we're noteeg much in storminess for the next coupl weeks. we are on the line between cold air to the north, 28 in state college, wilkes-barre, pennsylvania, 27. 63 in roanoke and 62 in richmond. even in our area, 43 hagerstown, 53 d.c. so a.ig difference he we are going to see numbers coming down. the next couple days we stay right there around average 49 on wednesday, 50 on thursday. friday is the day to watch. a cha for snow maybe early in the morning maybe mixing with slt before changin to rain on saturday. we'll talk about that. how big of a storm i friday? let's go to the bread meter.

>> we have to bring out the bread merit whenever we're talking be about snow in the forecast. based on the timing, the bread meter is landing at the no worries. even if we do see snow by friday afternoon and evening you're getting out no problem. late thursday into friday, we're keeping a close eye o temperatures with the event it does look like our temperatures are coming a downittle bit but still a little bit difficult to support accumulating snow on eifriday. that said it could impact a fridayorng commute. anything falling from the sky, rain or snow, slows us down a little bit here, minor accumulations possible on grassy surfaces. thursday we start off in the mid 30s, we're y. no worries weather wise on your th. a high around 50. on friday, it's the morning and dday hours where rain is possible, maybe a little bit of sleet.
