dea here, to make the area safer for drivers and road crews who are still trying to patch the potholes. again, work on a permanent fix doesn't start until this fall. trains wilnc again be running at the fairgoodest metro station this morning. yesterday, smoke on the platform closed it down. metro suspended service during ru o hour to figur what was going on. the smoke was caused by a piece of plastic snow fcing which somehow came into contact with a rail. after closing off thetation anrerouting riders to buses, crews were able to remove it. unfortunately, several other metro stations are closed for this weekend. the blue and yellow lines south ofio reagan nl will not have rail service today or tomorrow. bus s ivice going to be running between the huntington and franconia stations, all the way up to reagan national. metro is closing the stations prepare for a longer shutdown of those stations, which is set to start this summer.

you may have caught the pamela butler case. it was on "dateline" last night. pamela lived in northwest washington. she disappeared in 2009. police never found her body.bu er's boyfriend, jose rodriguez cruz, confessed to killing her. police may have not gotten theo confesithout the persistence of pamela's brother. going. was to keep it i felt if i kept it going, police will say, we have to get this on the news. we have to solve this case. >> t case sat cold until a tective took another look. thanks to advancements in technology, policeli rd other remains found decades beforehand belonged to cruz's ex-wife. cruz eventually told them he buried pamela's remains along i-95 in stafford county. the police have not yetth recovered. you can find full episodes of "dateline" on nbc.com. happening today at national harbor, president trump set to take the stage to close out this week's conservative political action conference.

a teenager's unsolved murder has h fnted herily for more than 40 years. inthis morn montgomery county police are asking thr your help. nighttime, temperature drops a little bit, we cool. we're looking at some more snowp trying toh in, especially during the overnight. mainly south and east rainev t. could be a little mix in between. mainly snow event north and west. we're going to have to figure out where the rain/snow line sets up. i think it is going to flanuctue and move back and forth. everytng is out by monday morning. we'll have snowy roads. monday is dry, just it'll dry everything out. 4 to 7 inches north and west of d.c., up through frederick county, the mason-dixon line. 2 to 4th through the nn shenandoah valley and the western side of baltimore. a coating to an inch here in d.c. i'm going to wait for new t.information to come again, we'll have to really watch that and to see if this is going to continu to stay on track. of course, my ten-day doesn't work. ere we go. 49 for today. weather alert for tomorrow into monday. temperatures are in the 30s. breezy on monday. pretty quiet this week. we do have some rain chances as we get into the workweek and into the weekend.
