multiple fairfax countychools er the course of a decade. he was arrested after two students came forward to say he had inappropriate contact with them. one said it happened over several years. >> the folks who have come forward,xtremely believable. we've taken that information and looked the the story line. we talked to as man people as we can. >> hammond was most recently working at west springfield elementary school and previously worked at rolling valley. police are not confirming if hie accusers children at these schools. hotline' been set up with fairfax county to report incidents. we have that number now on our anything washington a. just search "daycare". maryland is one step closer nv a new law because of a news 4 i-teamtigation. the state senate unanimously passed a bill aimed at better protecting school children from predators. rerting from scott macfarlane and the news 4 i-team has been cited during the debate. scott has an importantnopdate >> erika, good evening.

the legislation would require school districts inaryland to perform better, deeper background checks when they hire teachers, checking with all prior employers, not simply he calling most recent prior employer when they background a job applicant. a 2018 i-team report revealed a teaching sending sexually inappropriate text messages to a student when heorked in florida evaded detection and he later landed two jobs in two different maryland school districts. both districts admitted to the i-team it did not and often do t contact all prior employers when hiring. a maryland state delegate saw a report. he drafted a bill top beef u the requirements. the state association of school boards and the teachers union it maryland say they support it. the bill has just passed unanimously in the state senate and in the hou ways in means committee there are still procedural hurdles left in the house before it's given to the governor for his signature. we'll keepating. scott macfarlane, news 4 i-team. now book to you. well, are you ready? this weekend is about to be a

we're back tonight with an update on a story we brought you last night on news 4 at about a beloved maryland youth soccer coach. >> he's facing deporlltion but wi get to stay in this country a little longer. agbegnigan amouzouwns k as coach fofo, and after an i.c.e. hearing in baltimore this morning he was reased and told to check back in in about ant moh. activists were there to show support for the coach. coach fofo has been living in mogomery countor nearly 20 years. he came here from the west african country of togo, over the years he's coached hundreds

talking about that. sunday's going to be a day of transition, for sure. first off, though, overnight into tomorrow. no problem. look at the numbers out there today. gh temperature today o 71 in the city. 75 around fredericksburg. look along the eastern shore over there at 70 degrees, too. right now, still on the mild side. very nice nisot. cloud cover out there. 61 degrees. winds out of the northeast, only about 3 miles an hour. it really is a pleasant night. a lot of people eating outdoors this evening. still in mperatures the low -- high 50s to low 60s. manassas earlier this week, 19 degrees. we saw frost thi week and now we're talking about 70s. that's what we get into tomorrow. thing on the radar. we are clear. we are dry. we're going to stay that way one more day and then we'll see the chance of showers coming in. it looks like we've got the chance of showers. a lot of cloud cover.
