the chesapeake bay. this morning seral governors and others are hoping to save it. drew wilder h the details. good morning. >> reporter: eun and aaron, good morning. the president wants to cut funding that directly benefits ou drinkin water and this morning mayor muriel bowser is joining the governors of virginia and maryland telling congress they shouldn't cut spending but actually increase it. in president trump's 2020 budget proposal he again wan to cut funding to the environmental protection agency. under that umbrella a 90% cut in funding for the ongoing eanup in the chesapeake bay. this is working to improve our drinking water and build up resilience to rising watle ls due to climate change. right now the program is $73 million. trump's proposal cutting that down to just 7.3 million. this morning mayor bowser and
