transportation secretary elaine chow and education secretary betsy devos. a mystery is unfolding in the woods in a southeast d.c. neighborhood that could involve ltiple murders. news 4 has learned the remains found in aooded area near alabama avenue on saturday could be connected tone or more.ma rk segraves broke the news this afternoon. police have a lot of evidence to hrk with. >> reporter: it wae in these seemingly tranquil woods in southeast d.c. just off alabama avenue where the gruesome discory was made. human remains lying at the base of thisree. here was skeletal remains. it was advanced stages of pretty much skeletal remains. >> the remains had a gunshot wound in the base of the skull. and appear to be those of an adult male. they were found in plain view just a few stepsrom this area which is littered with empty bottles whe people appear to gather from time to time.

now according to multiple sources familiar with this investigation, when police got to the scene here, they found a wealth of evidence including a loaded handgun, identification that could be the victim's. the chief medical examiner is now trying to determine whether this was a suicide or a homicide. if those sources tell us that the person that they believe i thtim is someone who was reported missing late last year and wasanted for at least one murder. those remains were found in these woods in the hillcrest nehborhood on saturday. sources tell news 4 the identifition found on the remains belonged to a man who was a suspect in as many a three murders and that the u.s. marshals had an open warrant for hisrrest. today d.c. police confirmed u.sa mas office is now working on the case as well. >> there was some things that were recovered from the scene and partti of the investi where we're all working on this case together. we're doing some preliminary things to try to identify who the person is. obviously w to go through

well. just plain rain fro d.c. back to the west around winchester. falling.t it's fairly light around the d.c. metro area and points to the north around leesburg, parts ofdo gaithersburg. to the south is where we're seeing the heavy rain. in and around waldorf, but especially this line right here you see this line coming througt leonn, coming through southern portions of calvert county right on back in towards king george county. heads up if you're in these areas. i want tohow you where the warnings are. still king george. i'm not too worried aout little anndel. you can see the lightning associated with these are well south of where that warning is. they may takee that out of warning. calvert county over towards st. mary, look across the bay here over towards the cambridge area. we're tracking these storms as they move off towards the east. they mean business. we're seen winds gusting 50 to 60 with these storms as they
