this morning a call came in of a fire at this residence. they arrived at the scene and quickly were able to go inside and assess the suation inside. they found two people, elderly nounced o was later p dead, and also an elderly man who was taken to the hospital. we are told here by fire investigators ty are a husband and wife. also removed from this fire were two pets who are now in e care of animal control. they are telling us right now at this time it doesea a that the fire has been contained to just tt second flo bedroom where that woman was found dead th morning. as you can see, they are still here on scene continuing to go in and out and mak sure this fire is out this morning. we are told they expect to be here for several more hours here along south pitt street continuing their investigation. we are told that next of kin are being notified about the death of that woman here in this home. the cause of this fire remains under investigation. also under investigation as well

street. >> justin finch is live what can you tell us? >> reporter: the large apparatus is noonger here on scene. the fire marshall is telling me she expects the investigation te contere for several more hours. let's take you now to the scene earlier this morning. this was what it was here for hours here overnight. a major investigation her underway. close to 12:30 this morning that initial call came in of fire a smoke in a town house here on the 300 block of south pitt street. the focus quickly became a second floor bedroom. inside a woman was found dead, elderly an elderly man was taken to the hospital. that woman has died from her injuries here. we do understand they were a husband and a wife. however, inside they were able to quickly isolate thatire to that upstairs bedroom and also took some heavy fire damages well. because this was a histoc building, they were able to encounter some challenges here on the ground as well.
