>> busy weekend here. let's get back to that breaking news that occurredhi outside the house this afternoon. a man is in custody after he set himself on fire outside the gate. th on the north lawn this afternoon. >> this sparked a massive police response andhut down roads in therea. ews 4 darcy spencer has the latest >> reporter: we are here at 17th and "g" streets in northwest washington not far from the white house. you can see thathings are back to normal, but it was a very different scenjust a few hours ago when secret service realized that something was happening. we want to take you back to those chaoticanoments. a m with an electronic wheelchair type scooter apparent apparently set his outer jacket on fire. we're told he was sitting along tpennsylvania avenue alo north fence line. secret service quickly responded as you can see i that video. they were able to put out the fire and help this man. d.c. fire and ems took the man to the hospital. he is expected to be okay. the north lawn was cleared as

name -- penny holloway lived in her townhouse here for two decades. neighbors surprised to learn police are calling this a homicide. they believed ally along hollo planned her death. this is how friends remember penny holloway. friendly and outgoing. dressed up for an event at one of many orgions she supported. this is the town home where she was found dead back on september 29th by a friend. she was lying on the couch. at first police believes ther- 72-yead died of natural causes. until they began to look at the evidence and got the medical aminer's report. the ruling? homicide from a combination of smothering and holloway had ingested a mixture o oks ok cox and alcohol. >> as we got information from the medical kpoffice, we've reclassified this as a homicide. >> there had been a different

theory about her death. that she took her own life to escape chronic pain. >> that was the geral understanding. that she had several ongoing medical conditions, being one of them and that, you know, she just didn't want to continue living that way. >> reporter: several neighbors tell news 4 they believe holloway planned her death and they wonder if it was an assideed suici they say in the weeks before she died, she gave away most of her rldly possessions, her art, clothing, and car. news 4 foundt this court docum revealing she even deeded her house over to two of her friends. this neighbor who had believed holloway took her own life now troubled to learn police consider this a homicide. >> if there's smothering involved plus the drugs, i don't know hat tothink. maybe it was assisted suicide. hopefully it wasn't, you know, foul play. yeah. i honestly just feel really shocked about hearing that. about whad we lea

happened the night that she died? anything? >> reporter:hewell, just in last hour we've learned that a search warrant was file in this case that does support the notion that this was an assisted suicide. at least to the friend of hers who was here at the time andys doctor was also present. now, that search warrant obtained by "the washington post" says the three of them were inside the townhouse. ey've been having drinks when holloway reportedly said let's get the show o t road. the search warrant goes on to say that the doctor reportedly ga her some sort of smoothie and then first used a pillow and later a hand over her face. again, that is all according to the other friend who was here at the time. now, oi've also learned today that doctor whoe are not going to name died unexpectedly three days after holloway passed away. friends tell me that police had questioned that doctor before his death. studio you now in the

>> that's intriguing. julie carey. a bethesda man has been charged with several sexual assaults. now police are worried there could be more victims. one woman was raeped whiped whis out on bond. austin vann attacked a woman in 2017 and then another earlier this year. in the fir s attack a womans he lured her to an empty apartment to collect belongings she left at a party. in january while vann was free andn awaiting trial the first case, a woman said she met him on social media. met him at a bethesda restaurant. left her drunk a unattende then woke up later in an unfamiliar place while vann was raping her. vann is now being held at a detention center while he awaits trial. a sterling man senteed today f running a prostitution ring out of his home. authoritiesay louise hernandez spoke little if any english and struggled with money troubles. he will traffic the women from

the park service lowered the speed limbiit last month becaus of the huge potholes and the new secretary of the interior said his department needs to upts me when it comes to maintenance backlog. the other side of theto c they're dealing with a different kind of transportation issue involving the second phase of the silver noline, yeter headache.
