coming up, more on the suspect's charges and connections to the community. video coming this afternoon a crime that has recently become a common occurrence here, a group of people using a truck to try and steal an atm from a local 7-11. this latest incident has a similar to more than a half-dozen recent cases where a group uses a stolen t pickupck to smash through a storefront and dislodge the money machine. in today's attempt they didn't manage to get away with the atm but did manage to leave a bss me behind. >> new information about a deadly fire at a gas station in d.c. police sousees clo to the investigation tell news4 the woman likely set herself on fire. this is the scene just after 5:30 on benning road at 21st street. a gas station attendant called policefter he noticed one of the pumps was on fire. when first responders arrived

they realized a woman was also in that fire. she died at the scene and has not been identified. we know more about a chaotic shooting in germantown. an 18-year-old did not survive. several were struck by bullets. by the time the police got to the scene the shooter or shooters were already gone. cory just talked to the teenaged victim's mother. what have you learned here? >> reporter: that young man's name is trey dawkins, 18 year old. his family is absolutely heart broken his life was stolen in such a senseless way. they know circumstances surrounding his death they will say things simply are not true. today, they wanted to set the record straight about who trey

storm team 4 is tracking big changes in the forecast. we'll beoo saying gbye to calm sunny skies. amelia tracking chances for severe weather, updates at 5:00. eight families say their young children were sexually abused by a teacher at the washington hebrew congregation preschool. >> they're seeing the school and the director. and they said it could have been caught month ago. >> mark segraves spo to t parents and got a reaction for the school. >> reporter: it can cost as much as $16,000 a year to the prchool at the washington hebrew congregation in the upper 0 northwest. the synagogue founded in 1852 and operated a preschool in the last 35 years. in account of last year, d.c. launchedn allegation that a male teacher at the school sexually abused at least seven students between the ages of 3 and 4 years old.

details of the abuse have not been made p olic. onef the attorneys representing the families. >> it's horrific cduct, i can tell you that. >> reporter: the school held meetings with parents and letters and in a statement, a spokesman tells news4 as soon as we learned of these allegations, the washington hebrew congregation reported the allegations of sex abuse to the d.c. police department and child protective services. we have continually and fully cooperated. the parts of eight students filed a lawsuit against the congregation and the school's director saying the school ignored multiple warning signs there could be trouble including allo tng thecher to be alone with the young boys and girls. >> the schl failed in a lot of respects, obviously this policy known as two deep, having two adults prese with kids at all times. this w not followed at all. >> reporter: the school says they have hired additional staff so no teacher is ever alone with
