forward and it appears more and more will continue to do so. >> when we got this information, we had to sound the alarm -- >> reporter: rights' right attorney jeff anderson is the attorneys making a nationwide plea for more victims to come forward. eaking at a press conference in new york, anderson called for a full release of known as the perversion files. once secret documents detailing decades of alleged abuse by scout masters, and leaders and volunteers across the country. according to anderson, the files show 7819 alleged perpetrators. and som 12,254 alleged victims. >> we don't knowrehere they a we don't know if they got reported. we don't know who all they are. we don't know if the police know. we don't know if they're are still scout leaders and scout maste masters. >> reporter: so farlients have signed on with a number of state as justing statute of

court in franconia. the couple's son was notwh ther police arrived but we're told he was quickly tracked down and arr ted. at lastcheck, the parents are listed in stable condition. and also this morning, detectives are still working to determine what may have led up to this crime. the motherho was ind -- behind the wheel of a devastating crash that killed her own chilreen. five chi died in the single-car crash on route 301 in bowie. another passenger died weeks later. dominique taylo was the sole survivor and driver. investigators say his blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit when her car veered off the road and crashed into a tree. they also say none of the children were properly restrained in the car. taylor could spend up to 60 years behind bars. today president trump turns his attention to the opioid crisis as the white house tries to block democrats investigating

after nearly three years we are finallyin learn what caused a deadly gas explosion at a silver spring apartment complex. the blast at the flower branch apartments killed seven people and ntsb report revealed a gas regulator wasn't connected to a vent pipe. that allowed gas to bui up in the apartment building gas meter room eventually leading to the blast. the vent line was properly connected, we would not have had this exploon because the gas would have just vented to the outside as it is designed to do.

>> the ntsb also concluded that the blast could hav potentially been prevented. several residents reported smel tng gaso property management but the maintenance staff didn't detect any odor. washington gas was responsible for maintaining the equipment and disputes the findings. right now, jurors are deliberating in the trial of a 27-year-old mil onaire charged with murder in montgomery countries. prosecutors say daniel becklet hired this man to build a bunker under his home in bethesda to protect him froor north kn missppes. he was t under the house when a fire broke out in 2017. prosecutors say there were extreme hoarding conditions and that prevented coffer from escaping the fire. the defense said his death was tragic accident. for the third time this year, a person has fallen do theirth at the grand canyon. a 70-year-old woman fell over the canyon rim yesterday

could be more than just a nuisance and they may also ivve a negat effect on your mental health. dr. winer joins us to talk about the connection between and mental health. and i don't think most people would put these together and i certainly don't think they would for the reason that is really the reason, the science behind this. tell me about it. how are they connected. >> so first off, when people think about time of the year to feel badly emotional and they think about the winter time. >> dark, dreary, no sunlight. >> cold and you're not going outside. >>easonal effective disorder. >> a lot of people don't realize, seasonal effective disorder just means a certain time of year contributes your depression so we talk about the winter time and the winter blues. springtime is one of the worst times of year for people and i've this over my0 years as a psychiatrist people get difficult for people this time of the year andhere are studies that have shown consistently that suicide rates ar the highest during this

springtime. whether we're talking about the northern hr isphere othe version of springtime in the southern hemisphere. so this is something that happens worldwide. we don't know exactly what the reason is behind this, but one of the things has to do with inflammation. >> and you answered my next question. what does that have to do with our mentalwe well-being. >> there is more data swing that a dieity and depression, those h whoh -- issues have an information component related to tom and s we know things like asthma, allergies and eck zimma and people with those havecr a 65 % se of having ental illness compared to people without it and studies have shown if you look a markers for inflammation in somebody's body, about a third of people with depression is felt that their depression is largely caused by their inflammation. so they've s donetudies to find

if you give these people dealing with depression something to treat theirin flammation, some sort of oranti-inflammat they're more likely and more rapidly going to respond t their antidepressant treatment. so it is really fascinating. so really what you're trying to do is anything you that you could do to decrease inflammation in their body and it is going to decrease the inflammation in the brain and help them feel better. n >> is there a over-the-counter medicine that you would suggest for people that have seasonalle alrgies that people tant have issue with depression andng tryi to combat the two and hopefully not exacerbate one while we're ineahisn? >> right. so what i willo with some people is i will tell them, take an or-the-counter allergy, like claritin and zyrtec and that could offer benefits if your issue is seasonal. if your issue is just inflammation in general,aybe you had some other problem that causes inflammation, maybe some

so that will continue to bring the pollen around the area and again tree pollen running high. temperatures in the 60s. we'll continue to warm up into the 70s for daytime highs today. cleagng is takin place from the north and west and eventually the cuds will decrease as we go to the south and east as dry air filters in. and that is when we'll start to see the tempetures respond. so again, we're seeing temperatures in the 70s by this afternoon. but probably late afternoon by the time we reach our daytime high. nothing on radar. few sprinkles overnig dissipating but this cloud cover right now. and again, here is that dry air working in and it will continue to filter in. and then we' left with sunshine later on this afternoon. we cloud back up again tonight and then as we head through the day tomorrow we are looking at temperatures in the low 70s. some rain showers in the morning and then again tomorrow afternoon and that will lead into your friday. unfortunately we do have rain through the day on friday and then another chance on sunday. but agn, it is going to wash the pollen out. so we start tomorrow morning at

kushner had plenty to say about the russia investigation in his first public comment since the report release. we don't often hear from him. here is peter alexander. >> reporter: overnight president trump saying he's opposed to current and former white house aides testifying to congressional committees in the wake of the redacted mueller report. in an interview with "the washington post" the president indicated complying with congressional requests is unnecessary. because he already cooperated with the mueller investigation saying there is no reason to go any further. and especially in congress where it's very partisantr the adminision is already pushing back on several fronts fighting a house judiciary committee for don mcgahn and ignoring demands from house democrats to turn over the s president'ax returns. it comes as one of the president's most trusted advisers jared kushner unloaded on the mueller report. down playing the findings on russia election interference. >> quite frankly the whole thina isig distraction for the

tuned for nbc4 at 11:00. time for a check of the forecast. >> lauryn, what is up. >> everything -- the tperature is going up. so that is a bonus for us. and temperatures out there, 77 degrees here in the district. now, again, we do have plenty of sunshine by this afternoon. i know we have cloud cover out therir but drier as working in and also breezy. the wind will die down through the evening. then as we get into your thuray, we do have chance for some rain showers specifically in the morning and then we'll hit a little bit of a break before we have some por rain showers late -- later on tomorrow. 3:00.2:00 or rain throughout the day on friday. temperatures on friday are in the upper 60s. it is also a little breezy on friday. ading into your saturday, temperatures are going it be in the upper 60s, saturday is beautiful and again a little on they breezde but absolutely wonderful. we had just a chance for showers on sunday. just a small chance. 30% chance you'll see it at your house. by monday we're looking better and then more rain chances
