a year now that biden would run, and now he is democrat numbe 20 in the field. meanwhile, another democratic presidential candidate, pete buttigieg, just received his firstor endment fromstating member of congress. and it is congressman don beyer of virginia. beyer told the "washington post" he thinksheuttigieg is t best communicator in this field of democrats. he said, quote, i think he does it better than anyone i've seen since barack obama. hillary clinton is speaking out abohe findings of the mueller report in an op-ed published in the "washington post." the former 2016de presiial candidate called russia's meection meddling a crime against thecan people. she called on republicans to look closer at the details of the report that suggestpr esident trump tried to obstruct the investigation. she wrote, quote, the mueller report isn't just a reckoning about our recent history. it's also a warning about the future. unless checked, the russians will interfere again in 2020. nobody but americans should sky 4 is america's future.

the blue and yellow lines will shut down south of reagan national airport next month. to help commuters, metro is offering parking at the ng franconia-sprield, huntington, and van dorn street stations while the closures are a effect. our partner wtop report that alexandria city leaders are less concerne about the parking and more upbet the line closures themselves. they accuse metro of keeping the closure plan secret whichte prev them from planning alternives for commuters. facebook is bracing for a fine that could be as much as $5 billon. it all has do with how the company handled its privacy policies. the federal trade commission began invesgatingacebook last year after reports that a political consulting firm accessed the data of as many as 87 million facebook users without their consent. at settlemen penalty in the billions of dollars would be the largest fine ever imposed by the ft against a tech company.

washington app for updates. we are staying on top of breaking news. d.c. fire officials say a man has died after being pulled from an overnightpartment fire we're told this happened in the 200 block of soakwoodeet in southeast. the fire was confined to one unit on the first floor of the building.ry apartment fire investigators are now working to determine what caused the deadly fire. we're told the apartment unit had smoke detectors, but they were not functioning. e d we're working to learn m about a house fire in upper marlboro. this is video of the overnight scene on mallard court. prince george's county officials have not releaetails on injuries or what may have caused this fire. we will keep you updated. developing this morning, a major health alert. the centers for disease control says this is now the worst year since ites in the u.s. was eradicated nearly two decades ago. there are nearly 700 cases across 22 states now. new york and in washington state. there are four cases in maryland.
