we're following breaknews this hour out of northeast washington. there has been another attempted atm robbery. this time at a 7-eleven on south dakota avenue. >> nes4's megan mcgrath at the scene now with more on what the robbers left behind. megan? >> reporter: the robbers left behind the atm. they weren't able to get it out of there. i'll step out of the way soee y can shat's happening. the problem was that the trucky that the used to back into the 7-eleven through the plate glass front, it got stuck. we've had two different tow ucks on the scene for well over an hour. they been trying to pull the truck out. erit's wedged in th and they just haven't been able to use it. now we have seen this crime a lot recently. in fact, this is the fifth robbery or attempted robbery of an atm in the area since rc mid- and there have been nine such attempt or robberies since the first of the year. many have happened in prince georgeri county. t here live, if you come back to us, they just got the

truck out. many of them have happened in prince george's county, others gave happened here in d.c. certainly investirs are possibility the that some of these may be connected. they're just trying to piece it together. we've h a lot of the scenarios, a truck used to go through the front of the store. they load up the machine, and in some cases get away with it get the cash. in other cases, they're not able to do that. that's what happened here. an attempt early this morning at the 7-eleven but they did not get the machine this time. back to you. >> megan mcgrath live for us in northeast. thank you. this morning, we're working to learn a moreut a local teen who was shot and rushed to the hospital. >> the 17-ar-old was shot just before 6:00 p.m. yesterday on bright leaf court in dale city. chopper 4 was over the scene as paramedics loaded the teen into li medevac pter. we're waiting for word on his condition. it appears this happened in a parking lot outside some town homes. prince george's county police spent the evening colcting evidence and looking for witnesses. so far, no word on any arrests.

police have arrested the man they say violently attacked a 94-year-old woman in d.c. last week. 53-year-old jonathan little is accused of attacking the woman while she walked to her car. p.m. appened around 11:00 on connecticut avenue in and park. police say little snatched her purse and then stabbed her. the woman survived and says she's gratel a suspect has been arrested. >> very rewarding to hear thate they w so successful so quickly. i'm upsbet the whole thing. >> little recently robbed two other women. they tracked him down by monitoring purchase o credit cards he allegedly stole. the local coast guard officer accused of planning a terr attack could be released from jail. federal prosecutors say lieutenant christopher hasan was prepared to carry out an attack and test fired illegal homemade gun silencers. they accuse him of putting together a hit list of st

$2 million hospital bill for the care of ottorm wabier. this is according to a report by the "washington post." warmbier, a university of virginia student, returned to the u.s. in a coma in 2017. he passed away soonafter. the "post" reports that north korea refused to even allow a medical evacuation until the bill was paid. it's not clear whether the bill was a.ually paid warmbier was sentenced to hard labor in 2016 after he was caught removing a propaganda sign from a pang hotel. the white house has declined to comment. developing near chicago, several people remain inerious condition following a chemical spill. a tom kierein carrying ammonia e leaked, cating a fog of gas that settled overea the when they arrived at the scene, first responders found the people unconscious in the streets. mergency crews were overcome by the fumes themselves. more than three dozen people including 11 firefighters went to the hospital

a wild scene played out on a highway near denver. a semi-truck crashed intoro traffic in of it causing a pileup. 12 cars, three semis involved. debris scattered all over the road. the fire started, as you see. the flames spread to the other cars and wound up being fueled by a load of wood that one of the semis was hauling. the interstate was shut down for several hours. this morning, the insurance institute for highway is calling on automakers to make a change. >> a study showed theou most dangerseat in a car during a crash is the back seat. researchers studied 117 recent crashes where back seat passengers were killed or seriously hurt. safety features that are often installed in the front of the
