right now investigators are sorting through the background of aay man they burst into a california synagogue and opened fire with over 10 people inside. a deadly collaps is sure to put a microscope on the safety dozens of construction cranes at dot seattle's sky scrape. four people were skilled when a crane fell from a building and came crashing down. families in rving cars ea getting brand-new today. we're live at the local church makingi int happen.

after the deadly shooting at a pittsburgh synagogue. >> this time it was in poway, just outside of san diego, in another synagogue. right now we know that 60-year-old woman was killed, a young girl and a rabbi were injured. >> we're learning more about the suspected gunman chris pollone has more. >> reporter: it has happened again, a gunman entered a place of worship and opened fire. >> going to have a few victims from gunshot wounds. >> reporter: this time saturday morning in poway, california, near san diego, at the chabad of poway sygogue. >> i was screaming for my kids. >> reporter: he watched in horror as it unfolded. >> a guy, 5'6", 5'7", white wit glasses anst on and just

standing there shooting standing there shooting, shooting, shooting everybody. >> reporter: investigators say the gunman shot at people before driving off as an off duty border to patrol agent chased after him. police say the shooter is 19-year-old john rneat, he surrendered to the police officers not long after the shooting. they're searching his property and checking the authentity of a letter posted online under the gunman's name. the attack six t months to day after the tree of life synagogue massacre in pittsburgh in which 11 people died. >> poway we stay strong and always be a community that cares for one another. >> reporter: another american community vowing to stand strong in the wake of violence likely motivated by hatred. chris pollone,bc news. >> too much. back here at home religious and d.c. leaders are reacting to the attack.

the shootings have been condemned by jewish leaders and different faith groups. police are on high alert and thepping up patrols at synagogues and o houses of worship. some faith leaders are demanding more action and more federal dollars to protect sacred houses of worship. >> the fact that we actually have to spend money on hiring off duty police officers to keep our congregations safe says everything >> and d.c. mayor muriel bowser is among the leaders spea ng out against the shootings, stating in part the attack on the poway synagogue was cowardly. and d.c. police tell us that officers are providing special attentioto jewish and islamic institutions as well as, quote, all religious places of worship within their districts. fairfax, montgomery and loudoun counties say they're increasing patrols and visibility around their religious institutions out of an abundance of caution. e > new this morning, we'r keeping an eye on a fire in fairfax county.y

authorities sa flames broke out in a home early thi morning on bronze post court in cent centerville. crews are hard at work preting the fi out. we're told it is under control and some firefighters remain behind to try to make sure all the hot spots were out as well. right now there are no reports of injuries. 10:0 officials are trying to figure out how a man ended up in the potomac river. d.c. fire says this happened overnight, under the key bridge. the news 4 staffer was there and watched as crews rushed theba m ck to the georgetown side of the river. that man i expected to be okay. he's in the hospital right now for observation. also happening today, ay special sunurprise in prince george's county. >> yeah. >> four families in need are abou to get aift that could change their lives. >> love this story. they have been selected to receive a preowned car from sterling motors and they have no idea about it. that's the cool part. >> news ris der ward is hard at work keeping that secret. he's at the first baptist church of arden. a great story.

thank goodness. after friday, i know, no severe weather to talk about for today. now, we are heating up. through midweek. temperatures in the 80s, little bit o humidity. and we do have some more rain chances this week as well. specifically wednesday, thursday and even into friday. now, we're having the rain moving out of here, it is really kind of depleting in coverage as it moves over to t east. and we're getting this clearing here, but we have got about a 20% chance thatou're going to see some showers at your house between about 12:00 and going to about 3:00 as this front pushes through. that can spark a few isolated showers, i think it is going to be isolated if anything. o temperatures there in the 50s. once we get that late day sunshine, we'll see the temperatures pop. start this at yo1:00. can see a few showers, there we go. that's it. it moves out of here by 4:00. look at the sunshine the sun doesn't go down until 8:00. we'll have a good deal of sunshine as we head into the

mueller report as it came out. he's been suggesting that it is exoneration when it actually isn't. and i think he's going to stick to that. he used four times in his news conference the term collusion, which is not a weekly term, music to the president's ears and there is a question now whether he's going to appear before the house democrats where reportingxc esively today nbc news is that they are pus fng backm the justice department not accepting the terms that the house departments want to put on the attorney general. so he'll be comfortable, of course, on the senate side, laired by republicanindsey graham, but when he gets to the house side, if he does appear oi thursday, will be a much tougher session. >> do you think this is part of a longer strategy from the president to just kind of delay, dety, delay until it j goes away? >> i think they're trying to run out the clock, the latest polling shows that most americans ro notlly want impeachment. they don't want this to continue. they do think by majority that the president lied.

but at the same time, they don't seem to want congress tost inate him. >> so this week, joe biden finally announced that he is officially going to be launching his presidential campaign for 2020. obviously joe biden has a veryt le history in politics, like the youngest, i think, too become a pitician elected at like 28. so what do you see as some of th pluses and minuses for his presidential candidacy? >> the good news for joe biden ispehat he has ence, he's been around the block. he knows h to run a national campaign. this will be his third race for president and the previous two times obviously he did not get theon nominati did very badly in fact. he has this long record of accomplishments. but also of controversies. you know, legislation that he proposed, supported, authored, the crime in 194, very popular back then, not so popular now. it has become controversial. his vote for the iraqwar. so all this trails himand, of course, clarence thomas hearings, he chaired that
