this morning we are hearing from a man who escaped a muddy cave and called for help to save his family and friends trapped underground in virginia. >> the group of six men planned to camp overnight in the cyclops cave near cleveland but not everything went as planned. the five wlee p one by one to safety. the sep terrain made it difficult for the rescuers. 22-year-old andrew webb managed to escape on his own sunday morning. he says head been planning t trip with his father, brother, uncle, and t friends for weeks. they started friday.

warmer still. >> the warm air is doi b its levelt to come in. eun yang has sent money southward so they can send warm air northward. what an unusual day yesterday was in many respects. our average high temperature now 71. yesterday, the high temperature at internatialrtonpoirdegrees. y so about ten degrees colder than average. that was only the fourth day in th entire month of april that was cooler than average. and it broke a streak of 24ays in a row that were warmer than average. the last cool day compared to average before yesterday was way back on april the 5th when we only made 56 grees. has been an incredibly warm april tied for second warmest on rew.rd no 56 currently in washington. that morning chill we dealt with yesterday not as near as extreme this morning. everyone starting in the 50s. no 30s on the map today. afternoon highs today will also be quite a bit warmer.

let's begin with a check of the forecast and the commute. melissa mollet has a look at the roads. >> let's turnpike things over ta storm 4 meteorologist chuck bell for the forecast today. a little warmer this morning, chuck. >>yeah. no frosted flowers this morning. >> that's good. >> always a good news this time of year as we are getting ready to put aow on the month of april here. the final day of the month on what has been an incredibly warm april to boot. very unsettled weather pattern around here. we were only 62 yesterday for a high. we'll be close to 80y. toda and then dropping back to the near 70 range tomorrow. very unsettled weather around here. i always like to say that our confidence level in the forecast, this is a lot of uncertainty in this particular forest the next couple of days. a very unsettled pattern. not a lot of sunshine hit-and-miss rain chances. no washout likely until the weekend, of course. warmer air will eventually settle in here n if today then thursday for sure. right now, mostly in the 50s.
