i'm leonrris at the live desk in the newsroom. we have breaking news coming out of charlotte, north carolina, where there has been a deadly hooting near the unc campus that gunfire comes day after another gunman killed two people and injured four others yesterday on that campus. one person died in tonight's ng shooti. now the scene this time around is not at any student housing affiliated with the university, but many students do live there. itdoes not appear to have anything to do with the campus shooting from yesterday, and it's not clear exac y what led up to this gunfire. but tonight on that unc charlotte campus, inside an he arena t was a vigil held for the murdered victims and those who were wounded. 19-year-old ellis parlieer and howell died. howell tackled the gunman as the shooter opened fire in the classroom. police arrested the suspect, gunman tristan terrell within minutes ofth arriving on scene, and now he is facing a number of charges, including

basically, it aims at addressing the issues that can arise when you have a large number of aople drinking, sometimes excessively invery concentrated area. the sticker of the arlington restaurant initiative is a sign that you're in a bar or restaurant where the staff have been trained to deal with things like preventing sex assaults, spotting fake id asnd underaged drinkers. crowd control, emergencies, and other safety matters. >> we want people to think about where they're going for a es rtaurant, out the eat, for a date, for ing to meet up with some friends, and knowing thate theying to be safe. >> reporter: 30 of arlington county's 400 bars and restaurants take part in the program. people we talked to said knowing a bar is taking part might make them feel safer. >> it would be very ressuring to know that, yeah. >> reporter: some arlington's oldest and most popular bars were the first to participate. it's an educational thing, and they're coming to work with you. so it's fantastic.

by a carfejust a weeks ago. witnesses say the man was crossing the kenilworth route 50 this morning when the dump truck came around a bend. we don't know the man's name, b friends called him concrete. they say he was a homeless panhandler. the dump truck driver stayed at the scene. no criminal charges have been a history-making vote in indianapolis today, just not the one we were expecting. baltimore county delegate adrian jones became the first woman and first african american to hold the position of speaker of maryland's house of delegates. baltimore city delegate maggie macintosh and prince george's delegate derek davis had been g battlinor that position, but in an effort to unify the democratic party, both candidates dropped out today. jones tes over the position held for 16 years by mike busch, who died last month. a young life cut shor by gun violence here in d.c. will live through a foundation guided by her mother and sister.s
