year. with motion sensors on the partitions, the walls will will stop if an object or person comes in contact with them. if approved, the county will install the sensors over the summer. ya maki wilson's young life was cut short by gun violence in d.c. remembered through foundation guided by her mother and sister. cory smith is in the newsroom with more. >> reporter: good morning. the foundation is cled makiyah scouts, and it's meant to empower young girls like her. these are the first to carry on makiyah wilson's name through the program. the mentoring is meant -- excuse me, the mentoring program met for the first tlast night. leaders hope to create sisterhood that will empower the young women to be active in their communities. news4 spoke with makiyah's mother about how the foundation honors her little girl. >> keep her name alive. i want to do it in a way that i ink shoe would want done. that was the biggest thin she always wanted to help, always wanted to give back.
