brand new problem in evcentr centreville, westbound 66 before 28, right lane blocked at a crash. mo on that coming up. just abou 6:02. we have breaking news in prince george's county. firefighters were called to an overnight fire at the new life worship center in capitol heights. as you can see, the steeple is pretty damaged. no injuries have been reported, and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. the new life center may sound familiar. molette green was there a few weeks ago for a segment. the church worked to put on a free food market fo families during easter. hope they can rebuild soon. >> yeah. this morning, more than 50 seniors are waking up in an unfamiliar environment after a fire ripped through the senior home. >> investigators are trying to figure out what started the fire. nicole jacobs has more. nicole? fireporter: aaron and eun,

work crews just left this facility just about a couple of minutes ago. i can tell you thanks to good samaritans from a nearby church, fire crews were able to quickly evacuate 200 apartment units ay yesterdhen this fire broke out. one woman describng hearing an ncredibly loud crash of ghtning just above her apartment and thenmelling smoke. the fire chief says the blaze was likely caused by the lightning strike. fortunately crews kept the fire from spreading, so it was contained to the attic area where it started. several of the units received smoke and water damage. as you mentned, roughly 75 residents were forced to stay elsewhere last night. but the good news, no one was hurt. back to you. >> nicole jacobs live in ft. washington. thank you. frightening video you're only going to see on news4.

a woman had to scream for he wher a group of teens corned her in her own apartment building. this happened wednesday evening in southeast tshington. he woman in the red dress you can see in the video here was trying to get into her home, but a group of teens trent -- threatened her and tried to ro her. they followed the woman intoler building. a family member heard her screaming for help and chased the kids off. the woman was n hurt. today a former nanny will be sentenced for killing an 8-month-old baby in glenarden. she was found guilty in february of abusing and killing the little girl in 2016. she was caught on home surveillance camera force feeding theusaby and cag her to suffocate. right now, there is a search for two missing elderly women from montgomery county. >> cory smith with the latest. >> reporter: a lot of concern for the women. it's rare to hear about two missing people in the same missing persons report. montgomery county police need your help.

out a letter -- sent out a letter telling parents and students about the death of a ninth grader. he was reported mssing last friday. that letter says his remains were found in the district over the weekend. police have not officially connected the student's death to thou mutilated body f in a wooded area near the chain bridge. we're told the body was so badly damaged that investigators still have not made a positive i.d. they suspect gauges may have been involved and are telling parents to keep a closer eye on their children. this weekend metro riders in virginia will get a preview of the summer's extended metro hutdown at half a dozen northern virginia stations. the metro stations south. reagan nat blue and yellow lines will be closed tomorrow and sunday. get you ll be there to to the end of the line. the stations will shut down for more than three months to replace crumbling platforms. that will start may 25th. rock creek parkway will be

shut down this time next week. the area by the kennedy center will be closed to bikes and pedestrians and cars. itill stay closed until the following tuesday. detour signs will be up for drivers. the closure is so that workers can k install parts of a new -- can install parts of a new pedestrian ifidge. you have tickets for an event during that time, budget extra time to get there. r sitting lock traffic is common for drivers in this area. wee some of the most -- we have some of the most congested roads in the world. >> and work isne being do in the d.c. council to hopefulliy give you less traffic in the future. methn mcgrath is live wi more on some possibilities that could change your commute. a lot of commuters looking for relief. >> reporter: relief, but the question is, is this the way to? do it we'll have to wait and see here. what's on -- being proposed here is charging tolls to drive in

d.c. or perhaps charging a fee cross over using one of the bridges. now the d.c. council has proposed a study to lok at that -- that plan there. the pros and cons of it. that according to wtop. d.c. has the second-worst congestion in the country according to a survey. drivers lose 155 hours a year sitting in traffic. it costs drivers in our area $2,161 a year in gas and lost time. now tolls have been controversial in the past. they have been brought up in the past. now some on the council point to the horrible congestion that we're seeing and say all options need to be explored. new york city recently approvered similar congestion pricing. ow the study would take a year complete. the study would look at the pros and the cons, and the results would be released in july of 2020. so one thing that folks in the area are looking at. again, this has come up before
