the president feels as if he's got basically political protection to stonewall on this stuff. i think they're trying to almost make the democrats decide okay, you're going to have to make anp uglyocess decision, sue us, formmpt, impeachment, some of that if you're going to make any progress and it's almost like they're digging in tir heels and it's a game of chicken. i will say this, the president ought to be careful what he wishes f . some people are speculating he's daring theem docrats. i don't think he wants it. i think he wants the th wat. heants to see if he can get b them tk down from it. >> but in a broader sense, we're looking at this battle between the legislative branch, youw, knd the executivenc bra here. if this is going to have broader implications, this constitutional clash, constitutional crisis --

>> this is the dilemma thecr demoats have. i think history is going to be -- i think democrats are looking at there is a political decision they have to make about 2020 and about how impeachment will play and how does that impact. at the same time, we're bringing up the larger issue. what precedence are you setting for the future of the legislative and the executive and whether the legislative can remain a watchdog over the executive which is part of its job. a.think that's the dile nancy pelosi is dealing with some house member whose say that's why we're here. don't let polls decide what's tough to do. others say wait a minute, be pragmatic. eat donaldt way to d trump is to stay unified, don't give him something to run against. we reached out to all the national repters that we have trailing beto o'rourke, bernie sanders, kamala harris, beat buttigieg, joe biden. every one of them said they have not heard a question about russia orl mueler from actual

6:22 pm
hurdle for elizabeth warren. i think she's got to prove she can beathim. that she's -- it's fascinating to me that everybody else in the field, kamala harris, pete buttigieg, everybody else in the top tier led the president. i do thinkwe sometimes collectively because of what happened in 2016 overrate the president's political stding approximately yes, his base is withim. that's it. it is hard to win many elections with 46%. he did it once. try doing it a second time. it's not easy without a lot of third party help. >> we haven't seen the rest of the field beating eachther up yet. >> that's going to come. b bernie and joe, that's coming. it's going to be friendly for a while. >> and polls at this point m not mean -- >> hillary clinton led bernd by 42 points at one time, so i would say -- >> knour role. >> joe biden ought to not be spiking any footballs. >> and there's another new candidate this week.
