a very busy day and a very busy area in the district. police are on the scene of a double shooting in columbia ts heigh >> near 14th and columbia road northwest near a target and a very large shopping center. chris gordon is live on the scene with the latest. what can you tell us? >> reporter: well, cory and erika, i am standing in what is called columbia heights apartments. it is subsidized apartments and behind me you see d.c. police and detectives investigating. we are told two people were shot. a man and a woman. one wounded in the hand and one n the leg with nonlife-threatening injuries. d.c. police detectives, fire and ems on the scene. they have put out a lookout for a suspect who fled. a man with short dreadlocks, armed with a semi-automatic weapoha so t man should be considered armed and dangerous.

well. >> megan mcgrath is live along the parkway and at the overlook on what happened this morning. >> reporter: well, as you could see behind mere, things are back to normal at this point. traffic is running at speed. that couple of hours ago was not the case. a fiery crash brought traffic to a grinding halto this phot taken by aûmñ commute on the gw parkwa showed the flames that erupted following the crash. the car went off the southbousi of the road and into a tree. fortunately the driver was not seriously hurt. police are investigating reports that a second vehicle was involved in the accident and left the scene. there is not much information on that car. it is just described as being green. the fiery crash shut down both sides of the gw parkwaye during theight of rush hour. traffic remained at a crawl even after lanes were reopened.

construction right at the kennedy center. let's take you to map and show you how all this breaks down. we're talking about the rock crek potomac parkway shutting down at virginia avenue northwest at the i-66 potomac river interchange near the volleyball court, not farro fm the lincoln memorial. traffic for you traveling wiat area ll move to virginia ramps. now for pedestrians and cyclists you will be affected and we're talking about a closure that will go to the roosevelt bridge. activity for you is going to move instead to virginia avenue northwest.reet so for the next few days as that route is closed down, crews again will be hard at work installing a pedestrian bridge over throck creek potomac parkway from the kennedy center at will open in september and that means from tonight until tuesday morning at 5:30 a.m. we're going to see closures here along the parkway for that work

the manhunt continues this morning for a fugitive who ran from police and then crashed his car twice. u.s. marshals are trying to track down victor charles johnson who also may goy victor jackson and wanted on a parole violation. he has a history of drug and weapo weapons offenses. authorities caught up with him yesterday and drove off and he crashed and wrecked the same car near the bw parkway in cheverly. he took off running into the n the area chools had to be placed on lockdown and the residents were told to stay inside as police searched and continue to search this morningv doping overnight, investigators are working determine what caused the deadly apartment fire in hartford county, marylale. three peop died and three more were injured. this is happening in edgeland, 45 minutes northeast of baltimore.e ate fire marshal tells us the fire started around 2:30 this morning at that townhome style apartment. no word on thedentity of the three people who sadly lost
