un to protect his home and his family and may have shot someone he know. >> police are trying to piece together how this happened. northern virginia bureau y reporter david culver is live in centerville with the test. david, what happened? >> reporter: pat and leon, police are looking into the possibility that this might have been a caseof mistaken identity. when we got here this morning shortly after that shooting, much ofhis street was closed off. investigators were going in and out of that town home trying to figure out what sparked the shooting. fairfax county policeig inveators unraveling more tape, expanding their crime scene, carrying out evidence, snapping photos of clues that might explain what caused a homeowner to open fire shooting a man inside his town home. police got thero calld 10:15 this morning. >> the victim is a 24-year-old white male. gunshot to the stomach. he >> reporter: temergency dispatcher appeared to be on the

phone with the homeowner relaying to officers what the homeowner did with the weapon ed. >> he put the gun on the kitchen counter. there's no one else in the house. it's just the two of them. he's trying to stop the bl ding. >> three of us are going to make entry into the house and look for the downed subject. >> apparently it was the daughter's friend and he didn't know who it was so he just shot. >> reporter: police are not e confirming elationship between the homeowner and the victim. only saying that they knew each other. >> officers immediately began rendering aid and he was transported with nonlife threatening conditions to local hospital. >> victim is being takento an area hospital. >> the neighbor was following police and news tweets a few doors dot'n. >> i a sad thing, because i know these people. they're very good people. >> reporter: right now police tell us thatl victim is stil in the hospital, pat and leon. they do expect that he will survive. in speaking a with police saying they had made no mention of any charges in this cas but they will be monitoring.

that's where steven rossi, aka mr. knick knack, wouldly regular appear. he's appearing at the fairfax county courthouse where he now faces serious charges. >> for nearly two decades he has been entertaining children with his original muyc pg original gigs at shopping centers, earning rave reviews from parents and their preschoolers. here's what the 58-year-old looked like when he was arrested last week. the investigation started with a cyber tip from an intnet provi provide. >> there was evidencehere was choi child pornograany being d. >> parked out front, his mr. knick knack van filled with props. investigators seized several electronic devices from his home and found disturbing photos on m th >> we uncovered over 50 images through coordination.

you check back there for didates. now to a overy at a park in prince george's county. police found a body in a park near largo high. the school sent a letter to parents informing them it was a senior student. at this point neitr the school nor the police department is identifying that student or talking about any of the circumstances. however, investigators are nott ating this as a suspicious death case. ut new information abo last night's homicide in silverri spngs. the victim is 30-year-old edred mo munoz. police got a call about a fight and found him there injured. he died later a hospital. no word of any suspects. ng> two people are recovering after a shooti in the busy columbia heights neighborhood in northwest washington. place say someone fired shots around 10:00 this morning at an apartment complex near 14th street and columbia ad. there were injuries to their legs and hand but bothre expected to be okay. we're working to learn more

about a suspect or motive. a traffic alert for you thir afton. a busy part of the rock creek and potomac parkway is being closed again near the kennedy center. that means you're going to be detoured starting at 8:00 tonight. e parkway will be closed off to drivers from virginia avenue to i-66, not far from the lincoln memorial. the parkway is also closed to bicyclists and pedestrians from "f" street to the roosevelt bridge. new will be installing pedestrian bridge over the parkway. g.ese closures will last through tuesday mornin we're learning some new details about the police response to the colorado school shooting earlier this eek. >> erika gonzalez at the live desk on top of the developments. what's the late snest? >> the law enforcement was response. officers arriving in under two minutes. in fact, entering the school right away. a security guard at the school actually found and apprehended one of the suspects and police

weather wise and baseball, yeah. it'what i went to school for. baseball andmeteorology. >> really nice afternoon. temperatures have climbed toun r mostly cloudy skies. 73 next hour. down to about 67 by 11:00. we notice the temperatures. everybody in the mid 70s todayer yestay at this time temperatures were falling into the 60s. even the mid 60s in some areas. everybody in the 70s now. we had a couple of areas of showers, one up here towards laurel. that's kind of falling apart towards howard kuntcounty. we had one around fairfax. the shower activity we had just about going. that'er not sh activity. that's clutter going on. what are we seeing? warmer numbers. 82 right now in richmond. t warmer air is making its way. nly 63 in philadelphia. the cool air is just to the north. right now the warm air is

winning out after yesterday's cool air winning out. you can see the showers developing and then quickly dissipating. soon we're going to see nothing but sunshine over the nextpl cou of hours. more storminess back towards the west. we're going to watch as theur w. it's an unimpressi ve system. it was very impressive earlier in the week. not a lot going on now. we do expect to see showers and thunderstorms during friday. not a lot and not everybody is ing to see them. only a 50% chance of seeing a shower or storm. nice tomorrow morning. 54 degrees nce and rm. little on the humid side throughout the recess hour. up to 80 by the time you're picking up theids. showers and thunderstorms, the best chance for strong stor ill be along and west of the blue ridge. showers, maybe some sho thunderstorm, but i'm not anticipating anything too strong. early dry and late day rain coming in. that rain lasts all night saturday night right into the day on sunday. sunday, again, let's take a look at other's day.

we've got rain likely. it's cool. we've got rain heavy at times and we've got flooding possible. i'm thinking area wide up to about an u inch, soto 2 inches of rain, depending on how the storm develops. we're going to be watching this closely on mother's day. could get a little break in the afternoon. i'm hoping we get some kind of break. we'll wait and see how that plays out. monday a high temperature of 70 degrees. behind that we'll see shower activity early and then it cools during the afternoon. we go down to 69 on tuesday, 73 on wednesday. wednesday looks like a great day. then we get to weather day at nats park. right now i've got a chance of shower there is. hopefully they are out before we start our presentation. the game starts at 1:00. all of next week only one chance of showers. it just happens to be weather day at nats park. thafrp thanks a lot. >> perfect timing. >> i've got to go back and sit down. that's right. >> i've got to see this. this is interesting here.

interchange right by the volleyball court not far from the lincoln memorial. traffic in that area will move to virginia avenue and those interchange ramps., nowr pedestrians and cyclists, you, too are going to be impacted. we're talking about aloser on "f" street northwest that will go to the roosevelt bridge. it wilmove instead to virginia avenue and 23rd street northwest. the next few days as that routec issed down, crews will be hard at work regarding the pedestrian bridge over the rock creek potomac parkway from the kennedy center. it's going to open in september, but in the meantime, for us, that means from tonight until tuesday morning at 5 time 30 a.m., we're going to see clores here along t park way tr that work to take place. again, if youvel this area regularly or rely on it even over the weekend, you may want to work around now, because traffic will be definitely backed up around here and the foggy bottom area too.
