an internal investigation found the football players were left erone in the locker room for 25 minutes on octob31st of last year. that is a violation of montgomery county school protocol. it was while the students were alone that fourtbj.v. fool players were allegedly raped as part of a hazing ritual. in addition to the coach, the athletic director has been removed from his position and the school's principle has beenr sferred. five football players are facing criminal charges. a d.c. firefighter is in critical condition after being hit by a car. the driver who ran into him escaped. the firefighter was off duty friday night when his tire went flat on 295. a police officer pulled over to of the h the car off road when the driver ran into him. the driver jumped out of the car and ran wa. >> it's unfortunate. that's not -- not what one should do and i would absolutely urge anybody wat anything

to please report it to authorities. >> the police officer who was hit is out of the hospital. we're waiting now for police to tell us if the officer's dash camera captured the driver running away. we're also working to learn more about this crashon the george washington parkway. it may have slowed down your cogute last . the driver lost control of their suv and collided with a tree. this happened lanes near turkey run. still not clear if the driver was hurt. while that crash is cleared the gw parkway will be slower than usual this morning. they ll be down to one lane in themcclean area. yesterday we learned it won't be fixed for probably about six weeks. 4:34.t's we have new information in that deadly mid-air collision in alaska. six people died in tuesday's crash. three victims are americans. the passengers were on sightseeing tou as part of a cruise excursion. survivors were pulled to safety by people on a passing ship.

you're watching "news 4 today". it will soon be illegal to use tobacco products on virginia school grounds. the governor signed a bill into law making all public schools tobacco free. this will make virginia one of 20 states to have a full tobacco ban. back in february he signed a having ecigarettes and vapes illegal. a couple of weeks i did a story on vaping. it will be interesting to see what impact the new lawis. almost everywhere you go you're on camera. >> now one u.s. city blocking local police from using facial recognition software.
