after three teens were arged with the murder of her niece. today two of the suspects, 17-year-old joel escobar and 14-year-old cynthia hernandez nucamindi appeared court for the first time. both are being charged as adults and being heldithout bond. according to an arrest warrant affidavit, the victim was lured into the woods, forced to undress and beaten to death by two men. escobar was armed with the bat while jose ponce attacked her with a machete. >> my niece s barely starting to live. >> reporter: she first met her niece when she came to the u.s. to attempt gang violence and stae,out of troublut she committed a robbery with her alleged killrs day before her murder and was killed out of fear she may go to the police. here aunt spoke of the desperate search to find her for a montro

wend martinezear logan circle last year was in court for his arraignnt today. instead a new delay and new questions about when a trial will finally get under way. derrick ward is live with a look at what the holdup seems to be. derrick, the family is getting frustrated, aren't they? >> indeed they are. they say the wheels of justice turn slowly. that's certainly the case here. this corner of 11th where the crime happene nothing remarkable now, but if you go back eight months to the time of the murder, it's kind of inn famous. today that family was in court y again and th are still waiting for justice. it's been eight months since wendy martinez was brutally murdered. police arrested 23-year-old anthony crawford. he's facing a first degree murder charge and the victim's family has been waiting for an outcome. >> all we a seeking is justice for wendy. nc there have been at least four court appearaes since crawford

but the fact is what they' talking about in missouri is that it's very narrow portion that there really is very little political support for outside of those areas. but this has been about a 10-year, this most recent push, because it's not just those two states. there have been a heartbeat bill,ha ones try to create bans as soon as you hear the heartbea i think those will end up in the supthme court. i ink the alabama and missouri ones are too easily knocked out of the system. but all of this puts abortion in the supreme court front andce nter as one of the top three or four issues that gets debated.ef look at the side of the r supreme courtht now in age. a couple people over the age of 80. if trump wins election, i don't think roberts willup set an overturning of roe -4 wade with buif it's six or seven, then i think it's there. it puts it more front and

you're watching news 4 at 6:00. tonight a federal judge is delivering a warning. if you work with another country against the u.s., you're committing a crime. >> ex-cia officer kevin mallory was convicted to of selling secrets to china and david culver was there today when mallory received his sentence. 20 years in prison. >> reporter: outside the federah course in alexandria, a symbol of american democracy. federal prosecutors argued that kevin mallory put those freedoms at risk. >> at this pointey know i don't have access.cc i don't have as physically to somebody. i don't have access to a hostile
