right now. we'll continue to see temperatures go right on up, look at that. by the time we head to the noon hour, 84 degrees. let's talk about the events going on, we havecattered showers and thunderstorms later on this afternoon, once again. a little bit more widespread than yesterday. we'll talk more about that. that's coming up in a little bit. >> all right, lauryn, thank you. this morning, police are victimi in investigating a deadly crash. a man was killed after being hit by a car overnight. >> seems like we say this all the time. and police say they found this person's body along route 301 in upper marelboro where we find derrick ward. >> reporter: this scene has just cleared, just seconds ago. we are looking at route 301 south. this was closed just a few minutes ago for a fatal pedestrian incident. we have video of the scene as the investigators were wrapping it up. what we know is that at about 5:30 this morning, maryland

state police started getting reports of a body layin inhe median, when they got here, thed d indeed find a man in his 30s. he had been struck by a car, paramedics called, he was pronounced dead on the scene. no car on the scene immediately, butstate police say a short distance away, they did locate a car that appeared to have struck cuis individual. two ocnts inside. they say those people are now cooperating with this investigation. again that is all we know at oiis pt. however, we do know that the individual is only being identified as an african-american male in his late 30s. maryland state police took this opportunity to remind folks that if you are walking along a road like this, which really isn't involved, but if you're walking in the dark hours or around dawn when this appears to have happened, they advise you wear reflective clothing, bright colored clothing so you can be easily seen by motorists. we don't know if anything like that was a factor in this incident as it is under investigation. route 301 south has opened after

this fatal pedestrian accident at 5:30 this morning. that's where we are live, derrick ward. back to you. >> thank you. developing this morning, a violent day in nor d.c. three people were shot and one ended up dead. lasshnight's gs were fired at t street and summit place directly in front of mckinley high school and langly elementary school. two men andne woman were hit. one man was killed, and the woman is sffering life tireatening injuries. the other vic is expected to survive. officers say they're still looking for tee to four men who are driving ava white n. bike memorial put up in a safety advocate's honor has been destroyed by speeding driver of all things. it happen yesterday morning on florida avenue in 12th street. that ghost bike was put in memorial of david salovesh who was killhit ailled by a truck recently. it served as a stark reminder of what happens on the road and what can happen.

that is until a speeding car hit and tookff. friends of salovesh are grieving yet again, so soon after losing him. >> one person that we want to tell about this is dave. you know. makes me feel so angry. makes me feel like i was sad because i lost my friend. >> the driver who hit the ghost bike got out and ran away. police say they have not been able to find that person. the woman whoo crashed i maryland restaurant killing a boy scout leader will spend he next year in jail. cameras capturing the violent moment on impact, the driver vernelle robinson slammed her car into babe's boy's tavern in upper marlboro in 2017. 73-year-old scout commissioner isiah pugh died of his injuries a week later. the washington post says a judge senteced robinson on friday. prosecutors said she was speeding at the time. her lawyers claim the car accelerated suddenly and they plan to appeal.

and a driver may lose a finger after an unfortunate accident while changing a tire e on the tway. the man was driving a trailer hauling landscaping equipment yesterday. he was on the inner loop near the rockville pike when he got out to change a tire. w the jack heas using failed, pinning i had hand between the tire and the wheel well. rescue crews werele to lift the traer. ey rushed him to the emergency room, but his thumb may have to be amputated. 9:05, turning our attention to politics now, new from the white house, theresident is distancing himself from some of the controversial abortion laws being passed in several states around the couny. series of late night tweets by the president laid out his position. he said in part, quote, i am strongly pro-life with three exceptions. rape, incest and protecting the mother.t the same position taken by ronald reagan. he went on to brag about more than 100 new federal judges that he's appointed and two supreme court justices.

then saying republicans are going to have toick together in 2020 to protect what he called hard fought gains for life. republican congressman breaks from hisarty and accuses president trump of impeachable conduct. justin amash fired off a series erof tweets yesty, the michigan lawmaker said he read the mueller report and that there is evidence the president obsted justice. he also said trump would have been indicted if he was not the president. amash stopped short of calling for impeachment proceedings. to the latest in decision 2020 right now. joe biden calling for less anger and more unity in the upcoming presidential election. that message resonated at a rally in philadelphia yesterda here is joe right there. political analysts say stnnsylvania, michigan and wisconsin are muin states. while calling for unity, mr. biden did not hold back on thee currpresident. take a listen.

an illegal event at a rec center. officers were called to the rec center on 14thu street before 1:00 this morning. they found a juvenile who had been shot and about a dozen or two dozen bullet casings. the child is expected to be okay.ar so fo arrest has been made. developing this morning, a sholent day. three people t, one ended up dead. last night gunshots rang out. that's directly in front of mckinley high shool and langly elementary school. two men and one woman was hit. the woman suffered life threatening injuries. the other victim is expected tos urvive. officers say they're looking for thrwh to four men were all in a white van. >> gang violence continues to dominate the headlines with gruesome murt murders and atta. erika gonzalez has reaction from one of the area's leading experts on the infamousms-13 gang and the old on our area.

erika gonzalez, news 4. new this morning, a new report claims president trump may be preparingo pardon several members of the military accused f convicted warcrimes. the news comes from "the new york times." officials told the paper that the trump administration has made several expedited requests for paperwork needed to make the pardons on or around memorial day. according to the times, some of the requests include a blackwater security contractor who shot dozens of unarmed iraqis in 2007 as well as the ase of a group of marine charged with urinating on dead taliban fighters. earlier this month, president trump pardoned an army lieutenant convicted of killing an iraqi during an interrogation. a republican congressman has broken from his party and is accusing president trump of impeachable conduct. justin amas of tweets yesterday. the michigan lawmaker says he read the full mueller report and there is evidence the president obstructed justice.

welcome back. we're talking about a dramatic rescue in the cno canal this week. a car crashed and flipped wednesday, rescuers pulled two meto safety. >> quite a scene. the rescue was unusual, but this can be a busy tim of year for swift water rescue teams in our area. as mark seagraves found out, he went ouer on the wat with them just hours after they saved those men in the canal. >> chopper 4 caught the scene as the montgomery county swift water rescue tam brought the two men to safety. >> they were in pretty tugh pe, one was a traumatic injury. >> reporter: after that early morning rescue, the swift water team was out on the potomac exercises, training on these rapids above great falls.
