into the holiday weekend. details ahead. >> announcer: "news4 midday" starts now. good morning and welcome to "news4 midday," i'm meagan fitzgerald. >> and i'm aaron gilchrist. and we begine with mo pulling 3,000 series cars off the tracks. >> after a door malfunctioned while passengers were on a train near dunn-lorring station. >> that means more six-car trains are rolling now. >> the latest from darcy spencer live at dupont station. good morning,?darcy >> reporter: good morning. metro is doing this for safety reasons. if you ride metro, you may haved noticehat the trains may have been a little more crowded. it may have taken you a little longer to get where you're going thisorning. metro telling us they are doing everything they can to try to limit the inconvenience for riders. we saw crowded trains here at the dupont circle metr station. we were here just after 9:00

this morning. metro took all of the 3,000 series rs out of service because of a door malfunction that needs to be investigated. a metro spokesperson tells me not all of the doors were closed as a series 3,000rain left the dunn-lorring station over the weekend. that is why these trains were pulled. this reduced the number of available rail cars by about 15%. we have some video of a 3,000 series cars at a rail yard in greenbelt. they sudden there should not be a major customer impact but some riders said it did seem like trains were a little more crowded today. >> pulling that, safety comes first. that is definitely clear. but i think aga we need to over the long-term let people know what i people would be willing to give the resources to get the cars we need on metro. >> 10 minutes late and hello, bill, if your watching,m i'm 15 utes late because of the train but i did text.

just a crazy seen. i think it could be worse tn it was yesterday and thank w goodness itasn't in terms of tornados. but again still dealing with t floodingay and that severe weather still creeping across the area. for us, we have beauful conditions. blue skies, just absolutely beautiful out there today. current temperatures right now in the 60s. oh, yeah. it is feeling like early spring out there right now. 65 in washington. yes, we made it up to 90 degrees not only here but baltimore made it up to1. 9 the first 90 degrees for 2019 in a handful of suburbs had 90-degree maras well. but today only low 70s and some areas in the upper 60s. now blue skies and breezy. we have thert nohwest winds pushing that humidity out of here so no humidity out there today. but the northwest winds at 10 to 20 miles per hour. now you could see the radar right now. nothing happening. not even cloud cover.ll we off to the west cloud cover.

high-risk individuals who could do harm to themselves or others. hundreds of guns ve been confiscated and lives have been saved and it is also getting people the help they need before it is too late. >> this really is about heing people in need and preventing violence. >> reporter: behind the store sit hundreds of firearms taken out of the hand of prince george's county residents deemed by a judge to be a danger to themselves or others. for mark spencer it is evident that they are using the residential flag law to prevent domestic violence. >> this is where the law is closely doing what the legislators intended. >> reporter: last week sheriff's deputies seized 78 firearms and 25,000 rounds of ammunition from just one person. it was the 56thxtreme risk protection order related to domestic violence served in the county. that is the second highest in maryland and resulted in more than 130 firearms being surrendered.

he was placed under house arrest after he posted bondwe last ek. a judge will review that bond status today. and we have an update about a woman accused ofsosing a a psychologist in stafford counted, virginia. news4 learned more than 30 families have come forward with complaints since we reported the story last week. authorities say the woman is not a licensed psychologist and did not graate from college. she is facing 11 charges. she worked for pediatric partners for attention and learning before she was first -- before she was fired, rather, last year. it is a crime that takes less than 60 sonds. news4 i-team reveals a jump in smash-and-grab thefts from cars. >> scott mcfarland shows us what they are targeting e three simple things to keep in mind to avoid being targeted. >> our investigaon found at least 80 items stolen a day from cars in the district.
