hi, everybody. good morning. welcome to " tday." nice have you with us on a wednesday morning. our friends in the south and midwest cannot catch a break. >> no. it was hard to watch some of that video yesterday from oklahoma. those dramatic images of people being plucked to safety there as the floodwaters>>rose. that's where we start this morning. yet another round of severe weather. new tornadoes, new widespread flooding. this threat is now expanding to the east coast. first kerry sanders joi us from oklahoma. kerry, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, savannah this morning emergency officials are warning motorist ifse they seflooded road like this, turn around, don't drown. one woman drove around a barricade, went down a street like this. didn't realize how deep it was. her car got swept away, sank in ten feet of water, and sadly she drowned. this morning mother nature unrelenting as strong winds a

tornadoes and floods wreak havoc. in arkansas, a dramatic rescue. emergency crews saving a wan after strong winds trapped her under downed trees. >> oh, mygod. >> reporter: missouri hit late tuesday with a tornado near springfield bringing ferocious winds and rain. a man was rescued from floodwaters in broken arrow, oklahoma, after clinging to at fence p for nearly five hours. >> right now we've got a dramatic rescue gng on. >> reporter: hours later, this woman near oklahoma city holding on for her life after heavy rair causedid flooding. these cattle struggling to get to dry land. and homes dangling off the edge of a cliff. the power behind the flash foods union here at the pacific railline where the water washed away the gravel and earth underneath the tracks. in tulsa, a tornado knocked down dozens of trees and power lines. tire neighborhoods ripped apart. >> i just thank god we're all okay. that's all that matters.

warnings stretching through the midwest again. this line of storms pushing through. here are the risk areas that we're looking. and w rre talking aboht into friday. four states, 7 million people today. this enhanced risk. few large tornadoes possible. damaging winds. it echoes into this evening as weom. now for trow afternoon, we've got 5 million at risk from amarillo, texas, all the way to kansas city. damaging winds, hail, tornadoes possible. then it moves into the northeast where for nine states we've got 42 millioneople at risk albany and down to mbus all the philadelphia and washington, d.c. and we move into friday. we're back into the midwest. chicago all the way back to wichita. 7 million people. hail, damaging wind, isolated tornadoes as well. so we look for heavy rain moving into the upper mwest today. evening storms near kansas city. the storms rumble into the ohio valley. then intensify into the northeast continuing pushing on. here's what we're worried about as far as the rainfall. back in the areas whereye've

alreadeen flooding. we've got a flood threat. numerous rounds of thunderstorms. we could be talking about som areas upwards of 7 inches of rain out of this thing. and as youight imagine, it's going to cause big problems for travel. salt lake city, denver, kansas, st. louis. then into the northeast, boston, new york, philadelphia, washington, pittsburgh, and detroit. if you're on the roads, we're expecting big problems as well stretching from chicago on into boston along i-90. cincinnati to detroit. along i-95 d.c. to boston. and denver to washington, d.c. all along i-70. a very volatile situation that's going right into the weekend. >> all right, al. thank you. nowas tongton where this morning all eyes will be on a closed door meeting between house democrats and speaker nancy pelosi. th are locked in a clash over whether or not to pursue impeachment hearing against the president. peter alexander is at the white house with the latest on this internal struggle.

>> absolutely. and on clinistaff. >> reporter: despite that with the state's fetal heartbeat bill likely to become law, she says the clinic will continue to serve women until it no longer can. >> i think that they are right to be afraid. they are right to be coerned. and we will be here for them as long as we can. >> steph, a lot of the attention so far has been paid to tse states introducing anti-abortion restrictions. what if anything, are other t states doing protect abortion rights? >> reporter: well, craig, there are a number of states that are lookin at legislation. among them vermont which is looking to protect abortion from any government interference whatsoever. also in michigan, the governor a democrat has vowed to veto a restrictive abortion bill tha bs alreadyn passed by the state house. it's also worth pointing out, our recent polling from this year shot 67% of americans want to keep roe v. wade while 28% wanto overturn it.

now a surprising discovery a nine monthsfter the death of music legend aretha franklin. an attorney says three handwrittenav wills he been encovered. they appear to pull back the curtain on her private life. could also touch off an estate battle. miguel almaguer has the details. >> good morning. the wills were found in hera detroit areome earlier this month all had written according to the estate's lawyer. that laid out how she wanted pieces of her musical legacy to be taken care of. but the discovery appears to not necessarily be good news for her four sons with two of them ready pushing back. >> reporter: on stage, aretha franklin revealed h soul to the world. but out of the spotlight, the iconic singer was notoriously private. now newly discovere wills appear to provide a glimpse into that life. according to court filings, a rep for franklin's estate found the three handwtten documents

rlier this a at the queen of soul's detroit area home. they have not yet been authenticad. the latest from march 2014 was found under couch cushionr in iving room. the others were from 2010 locked in a cabinet. the handwriting at some point is hard tonderstand with words crossed out and notes in the margin. but throughout all of them, franklin asked that many of her divided s be equally among her four sons. in 2010, specifically noting her jewelry, music, art, and copyrights. franin also reveals she received $100,000 every year for her recording royalties. in her 2014 will, franklin gives certain homes to her sons. her jewelry and furs to her granddaughters. also suggesting her gowns could be auctioned o or sent to the smithsonian. m her lawyer for the estate filed the wills incourt, but he's unsure if they're legal and says two of her sons are already
