learned a street sweeper is under arrest. cory smith is live with the confrontation that started all this. >> reporter: we've been talking to investigators and business owners here in the strip mall all day. they've both been kind of helping us piece together what llppened. we'tart with the victim. witnesses tell us he is a s salvadoran man and h t came pick up his wife when he got into an altercation with steven gree he has bee arrested and is facing a murder charge. the police were out here l day collecting evidence and i can tell you this. many questions still remain. fairfax county police were still colle ing evidence ase arrest of steven a. green was announced. officers bagged two blower fans, a hat, glaes, and a set of keys. they also used a metal detector d had a canine unit brought in to search the surrounding area. investigators also towed away this street cleaning vehicle. according to the property's

owner, green works for the and was regularly here in the t overnight hours. police say it was before 1:30 ni this morng when the 51-year-old allegedly shot a man after a fight in the parking lot of the strip mall. several businesses were still open at the time. >> officers had arrived on scene initially and were able to gather several people who were in the area for the shooting. they interviewed thospeople. >> one time i see this. >> she owns th sfoecell phone a gift shop. she's been here a decade but the first time she's seen police outside her door. it forced her delay opening for the day and she aoso had t call family members when they thought she had beenurt. >> he call me mom. i say what's happened? i see a lot of things. he said a man got shot in your parking lot. >> police said cameras they hope will shed light on what

counterterrorism officials are trying to get to t bottomf what happened. police are searching the third largest city for a hooded manr ing a bike that they saw nearby on surveillance video. > any moment now we couldhe learnate of a man who kidnapped wisconsin teenager jayme closs after killing her parents. it is sentencing day for jake patterson who pleaded guilty to murdering the teen's parents last october.am fily members fought back tears and read a statement. patterson should beked up forever for taking away everything she loved. no witnesses spoke on patterson's behalf. he's facing two life sentences. students ands parent at a montgomery county school have become concerned in recent days after an alleged shooting threat. but today the school system says there is no threat. it all started in february when a rumor started spreading that a student had plans to shoot

people at frost middle school. ere haveeportedly been more threats in recent weeks and some students plan to stay home today. but in a letter to parents, they y the thaincident that caused te rumors was isted diy ortunatelyrmit was deteed there was no threat. some new details on the tragic murder of a teen from maryland. >> today we learned detectives in charles county arrested two men in thatteen's murder and thosed men may have committ the crime to cover up another shooting just a day earlier. news 4's darcy spencer is live tonight on the story. she's had a look at how police cracked this case. darcy. >> reporter: leon, i can tell you in these charging documents the suspect apparently wantedic po to think there was someone out here randomly shooting people but police were able to figure out very uickly that was not the case and now they've made two arrests. these two men both facing murder

charges. they are accused of kling an innocent teen who was walking home in waldorf last march. the victim, 18-year-old walter u ye -- eugene thomas was found dead on a bike path. it was connected to a shooting the day before and that thomas was robbed of a cigarette lighter. >> tragic case. the victim and his friends were walking down the street. gey were leavin a house walking toward another and the suspect approached and it appears they randomly fi gun. >> the firstpe shooting hapned on amber leave court. the victim ronald murphy survived.as thomas a recent high school graduate. he was shot on fairchild court about half a mile away. police charged michael moore with both crimes. the second suspect darren mill er was only charged in the murder. according to charging documents, moore and darren made a plan to go out and do something similar to what happened to ronald murphy in an attempt to throw off investigators.

greens, greens and carrots, get you to, how do we grill them up nice? >> what we're going to do is essentially take some carrots and put them i an aluminum foil pact and put tumeric in there and put them on the grill. >> why would you put them in a pacand throw them on the grill? >> if you throw them on the grill, it has a tendency to become burnt, so what we like to do is we can roast them, simulating roasting basically by putting themin the aluminum foil. you see how complicated this is. i'm literally ripping this by hand. >> they br g a lot pressure produce and a lot of great organic produce. >> yes. we try to have fresh vegetables. where the farms are, there's not a lot of rough, so we try to get

the healthy vegetables and stuff in the neighborhood where there are no produce stores. >> there are there vegebles at home for those thinking about it for the summer? >> anything with a big leafy stem is easiest to grill. people ost don't think actually taking big leafy greens and putting them on the gril but they're really kind of hardy and they have a nice stem here. when you put this on the grill, it doesn't appear.ba spinach is not auch si gre -- such a great option. they provide us with big leafy spinach. >> you are throwing me oil on those. we've got our pact. we're going to throw them on the grill and make the veggies happen here. >> absolutely. >> wow. i do zucchini and corn and onions. i can't wait to try that. >> do you wrap it up? >> i put veggies on foil. >> okay. tryt out and letme know what you think.

of the afternoon, look at these numbers. everybody in the low 80s. 82 frederick. 87 in fredericksburg. charlottesville coming in at 90 egrees. right now 83 over towards baltimore. as far as the radar is concerned, clear skies. that tells you we're not dealing with any rain. we're going to have a dry couple of days here. the one exception could be sunday. we'll get to that in a second. let's widen out. not much m thein the way of clo. look from dallas to chicago. notice the flow from south to north and that means the warmer air is going to start moving our way. the temperatures to the south, raleigh comimp in with teratures in the 90s, 92 in raleigh, 90 in atlanta. that warmer air is going to start to movwa our that's coming up on sunday. tomorrow a little cooler than sd. a great day, though. an isolated evening shower possible. most of us will stay on the dry side.

news 4e cory smith is lith mor on the deadly confrontation. >> within the last hour we learned the name of the man who as murdered here. the person who has been arrested and charged with his murder is g steven reen. he is a street sweeper who was working out here ovnight when some sort of fight kicked off. we know police are ierviewing multiple witnesses and they're asking a lot of questions just to find out exactly what happened. fairfax police have identified the victim in this morning's ooting as 30-year-old miguel hernandez. the sal va dor ran man came to the strip mall to pick up his wife. he got into a fight wit suspect that ended in gunfire. at the time several businesses were still open and police questioned multiple ople. >> officers that arrived on scene initially were able to gather several people who were in the area for the shooting.
