spirit of rolling thunder alive. that's the latest. live from washington's national cathedral,hris gordon, news 4.ba leon, to you. leon harris here at the live desk where we are watching another reason wd you shoulbe very, very careful as you hit the roads. there is a situation on the 14th street bridge. on the insoubound side of 395, firefighters were responding to a wreck and were working the scene when they were injured in a crash. happeningn the inbound side of the bridge. the firefighters were there and two people nowave been injured in this crash inbound on the bridge. as you might expect, traffic being backed up both directions now. traffic is almost completely stopped on the inbound side. traffic on the hovanes there heading out of the city area, they're slowing down because people there are looking at the crash scene. this is, again, now, we understand the lanes are blocked from the gw parkway up to the

14th street area. we are still trying to get more details about what happened, but as we understand it, one firefighter was critically hurt and two others were injured in this crash scene.r firefighteresponding to one crash and being injured in another accident. we're working to get more information. once we get it, we'll report to >> leon, thank you. there's going to be a lot of traffic on the roads and there will be a lot of moeftorcycles t there on the roads. three bikes were involved in an accident on i-66 eastbound just a short time ago. chopper 4 was on the scene near bull run. that area of the interstate closed for a time. traffic got really backed up, but we're told right now three nes are getting by. luckily the injuries fr tat accident are not serious. some firefighters are being ordered to have no contact with the public. they're accused of hazing new recruits. firefighters are stationed at hhe busy silver hill station.

tracee wilkins ise. tell us more about this case and about the investigation. >> reporter: well, the silver hill fire station is the busiest in the county. they do t most work in this station. they have some of the most dedicated ems and fire personnel building. now there's an investigation into what else was going on in that building. the firefigh being treated like fraternity pledges. prince george's county fire and ems spokesman confirmed that they are investigating an alleged hazing incident that tevolved firefigh at the silver hillvolunteer fire department. it's the busiest fire department in the county. according to fire spokesman, eight firefighters have been disciplined including one captain. they're all career firefighters. they've been placed on administrative du meaning they can have no public contact until the investigation is do. at this point we don't know how many victims were impacted by

the murder may have been an effort to cover up anothe shooting nearby. police say walter eugene thomas was innocent ctim. the 18-year-old robbed and shot at random and left to die on a bike path. and according to charging documents, the suspects wanted to rob someone and if they resists, open fire. they didn't get much from thomas. documents show he was robbed of a cigarette lighter. two men have been charged with the murder. police say itte connecto a shooting just the day before. >> tragic case. we don't see this in charles county. the victims and his friend were walking down the street leaving a house andalking toward another. the suspects approached and it appears they randomly fired that gun. >>orter: the first shooting happened on march 3rd. the victim survived. thomas was a recent hogh schol graduate. he was shot on fairchild court about half a mile away. police charged michl moore

the pool. for sunday we'll take you into t low 90s. notice we do have a few storm chances. rain chances on saturd are looming, but i wouldn't cancel any plans. they're going to be far and few between. isolated showers threat late saturday evening into saturday night. mo s showers lateday night into monday. here's a look at the future cast to help me break it down better. saturday morning we're starting f dry. there's saturday evening, 8:00 to 9:00. you saw that round of wet weather push through 95 and head out towards the bay. then we head into sunday morning. we start off dry again. sunday afternoon is when we could start to see a lot. more i'm going to call them popcorn storms. you'll see them popping up everywhere. some people may stay on the dryer side. the rest of us may be seeing showers and storms. during the dry moments, it's definely a great time to head to the pool if you can't make it

begin. nbc news. news 4 at 6:00 begins with breaking news. we start with the newse've been following on the 14th street bridge. njured in anghters accident responding to an accident. >> news 4 jackieensen has navigated her way to a new vantage point. tell us what you can see from there. >> reporter: well, i can tell you first of all this crash illurates how the daily real, s, it becomes very very quickly in the first responder profession. take a look behind me. we understa that the firefighters, one in critical condition, two others far less serioly injured thankfully were responding to some type of crash involving a medical emergency on the inbound lanes of the 14th street bridge.

you see the scene there behind me. those firefighters when they were out of the vehicle tending to this injured person, they are obviously unprotected by the vehicle they were in. ey were somehow struck by another car. we don't know whether it w a car or truck. again, you know that this bridge is over the potomac. we can't exactly get much closer than this, but you can see theg lar scene there on the inbound lanes of the 14th street bridge. again, we do not know, we do not ve at this point a lot of information about exactly how this happened. we don't know, again, what type of vehicle struck them, whether it was a car and what the original call they went for, that original medical emergency was about. we hope to hear more from d.c. fire and ems shortly.
