severe weatherhat rolled through our area last night showing a lightning strike in frederick, maryland. ooh. severe thunderstorm watches were in effect for the entire d.c. metro area until 1:00 this morning. >> been a rough couple of nights actually. ehere's been thunder and lightning in iddle of the night for sure. >> absolutely right. quite a few. thunderstorm watch late yesterday evening, thunderstorms around all during the day yesterday. today, another chance of a few t showers, but i will not be the same level of intensity or the samemount of storm coverage today. i can't tell you that it's a guaranteed 100% dry day, but thunderstorms will be fewer and fartbetween today than they were yesterday. and they will not be as powerful. so that is two things moving in the right direction. right now, it is a fairly cloudy start over washington. no rain on storm team 4 radar. we'll have highs today uhe in t low to mid 80s. just about average. here's a look at the last five memorial day -- last year, cloudy and cool. some showers around. only 72 for the high last year

parade. indiana hunt martin is 97 years oldav mark seagr has the story of her lile-known battalion known as the six triple eight.he >> reporter: t were 855 of them, all women, all african-american. in 1945, they deployed overseas. their politician tosort through -- their mission, to sort through millions and millions of packages intended for u.s. g.i.s serving in the war. >> you should have s en the boxefalling apart. roy one of those was indiana hunt-martin. they faced racism in the states. she remembers going to georgia for basic training. >> we rode to washington, d.c., we had to change trains because that stop from there down you didn't ride in the same rain with the whites. >> reporter: andmartin remembers the air raids. of hey were right outside london. we could see the bombs, where g
