book is earning her international attention. and we dodge the strongest storms today, but i don't think we'll get so lucky tomorrow. i'm trackind another rou of severe weather. i'll show you when it moves in. >> news4 at 11 star now. >> good evening. we begin tonight with a woman attackedy two pit bulldogs earlier in d.c. this surveillance video shows the same dogs cornering the teenager earlier in the day. >> neighbors say the animals have en terrorizing the neighborhood for months. the dogs attacked the woman in and around minnesota avenue in southeast. >> news4's jackie bensen joins us now with what police uncovered as they went inside the home. >> reporter: news4 has learned that the dog mauling incident where a woman was severely injured to her face and hands was not the first today. the earlier one was caught on videotape. this home security camera video shows the pit bulls ambushing a

teenager.ng we're concealhis identity, who was walking the 6-month-old family dog. he injured his hand in the struggle to save his pet. not long afterward, aki woman ta the trash out at a home a couple of doors down was attacked by the dogs. she tried to protect herself with a trash can as a shield. >> i was in the house.he and w i came out, it was the end of the dogs mauling her and the police had pulled up. and when i was walking out to talk to the police, the dogs came towards the officers, and that's when the officers shot them. ll>> reporter: sources te news4 police called to investigate at the home the dogs escaped from obtained a search warrant after they found evidence of a significant commercial marijuana operation inside.c. a d fire department hazmat unit was called and removed several large butane tanks. police took boxes of other items into evidence. >> but squatter, they've been there forever. >> reporter: residents in the 26 home banneker ridge development

call. severe weather is hitting the south and parts of the northeast tonight. so of the weather has producedd tornas and caused flooding. news4's leon harris tracking the latest for us. leon? some pretty wild video coming in tonight. >> take a look at this. that is definitely wild. this is new video that we're just getting in here of coming out of texas, a tornado there slamming intohe town of canton, which is just east of edllas. this tornado cross the highway, barreling into buildings and business ms. the region, downing trees a making roads impassible in the area. winds were so strong, they bent traffic lights sideways. the power in that tornado sheared off the sides of gas roations and ripped up trees, tossing them aund like twigs. nearby counties reported tornadoes hit them. closer to our area, up in philadelphia, storms ost acr the metro region there this evening. here is some new video coming into the newsroom in the past hour. you can see the storms there causing some big damage around the city, knocking overtr s,

what gets results. o mueller madeit clear he doesn't want t testify publicly, but democrats are leaving open the possibility of a subpoena. n> a quick check at some of tostay's other to be ries. a man is in critical condition after lighting himself on fire near the white house ellipse today. around lunchtime, witnesses saw the man covered in flames from head to toe. ome reported that he wasn't screaming, just walking around like that. secret service and other federas office ran to help him. they used a fire extinguisher to ouse the flames. we're work to learn the cause and manner of death for a local 14-year-ol and two ts adul sheriff's deputies found their bodies here in a rural home near fredericksburg. neighbors told the family that lived in the house had moved inw just a fe months ago. there is no threat to the community. they're calling the death suspicious. take a look at these pictures. this individual is a person of interest in an assault.

it happened may 9th during the evenino rush on the lower level of gallery place's metro station. if you recognize th person, metro police would like to hear from you. the police chief called him an example of the finest our country has. prince george's police officer devon mckenzie w off-duty this morning riding a motorcycle on the beltway when another vehicle ran into him. the impact sent him over the median and into oncoming traffic. officerckenzie was just 24 years old. e there ar new safety precautions inside a local psychtric ward weeks after a patient escaped and held a woman against her will. >> this was the case th had a lot of folks shaking their heads, and tonight scott macfarlanehe updates ttory first reported by the news4 i-team. >> the patient not only escapes, but convinces a staff member at the hospital to call him a cab. it happenedntearlier this m at the washington, d.c. v.a. medical center on irving street.

virginia records obtained by tht m show the patient was a 29-year-old man who escaped through the ceiling by removing tiles in the shower. he took a taxi to a home in manassas, where he held the woman there against her will. a relative who asked we not show her face describes how it all happened. >> he went through the emergency room and asked someone in the emergency room, the staff at the hospital to ll a taxi cab. >> and they called him a cab? >> they called him a cab. >> he was wearing his hospital clothes? >> he was wearing his scrub bottoms and a pink top. >> reporter: a new internal memo deviewed by the i-team says the hospital has ad tamper resistant tiles and will inslocks for coverings too. tonight they have retrained staff and completed an inspection of the psych ward. st for thatma he has been released from cudy. he was at a hospital briefly in virginia after his arrest. scott mcfarland, news4 i-team.

several days. they're still seeing rains.i seeing tornado watches through the south. this boundary has been here for weeks, and we've seen storms ride right up over this boundary. tomorrow we're going to see it again, and we'll see the storms in the midwest come our way.or 8:00 tomow morning, no problem. stepping out the front door is just going to be on the warm and mild side. humid too. 1:00, we'll see a couple of showers and more cloudiness here. watch what happens during the afternoon. here is 2:30. some showers and thunderstorms developing. and more developing around 4:30, 6:00. some of the strongest storms coming in with that front. look how they just race through here. this computer model giving us what's called a bow i tack about that a lot with strong winds. we can see that anywhere in our area tomorrow afternoon and early evening. so i want you to keep a watchful eye to the sky there. 90 degrees tomorrow afternoon. some more clouds. that could keep us below 90. but if we do hit 90, it would be our first official heatwave of the season. more muggy for sure. and after that, the front moves through. we see some beautiful weatntr.
