place. >> here's what it looks like after the storm. these are live pictures from chopper 4 which is flying over ijamesville in frederick county. you can see these stkems pac a serious punch. >> we begin live team coverage on the ground in frederick county. jackie bensen justre arrived the on the scene. we know several homes have been damaged. tell us what you're seeing there. >> reporter: we are in ijamesville. we're right under where you saw those choppertu pics. take a look behind me here. this home has been very severely damaged by multiple large tree limbs and pieces of trees that have come down on the ground. ioflost count how many big tree limbs fell here. i can tell you and you may want to passis along, we saw this all the way coming down the road. that's where we are right now in the 5000 block, we saw damage like this. this is the worst, but we saw it

coming all the way down this road. obviously this area was pretty hard hit when those storms came through this afternoon. luckily we learnedthat nobody was inside that home that you can see. they've got some people there checking on the damage and tring to figure out what's going on. there were no people inside gratefullyvery, very the family tells us the family at, who we're going to try to get you a quick little picture of, don't let him out, because you can see theeaittle sticking up. he was inside and rescued by thw young mho is -- how would are you? he's 17. at got hugh out thereof and put him safely in th car. there's no power in this area right now. i can tell you that we are seeing just every yard tat we passed on the way up here, we saw large tree branches, tree limbs. it was trash day here today, so trash cans arell over the

in howard county, ellicott city, right around route 32 and i was on the air talking about if you're around 32, this is the ornado warned storm. the same storm that came through the ijamesville area. i think this was a rnado, especially into howard county. more ke to see a little damage to confirm a tornado, but i have seen someone that will confirm a tornado around the ijamesville area. the new video i'm looking at would be a definite tornado. trees are just everywhere in all differentct direns. right over 32. we were on the air live saying if you're along 32, there may be a tornado on the ground right ow. it lookske that was the case with this storm right there. storm.s a monster of a we saw another one coming through parts of fairfax county into prince george's. a lot of damage in that area. now not much going onut here, look to the south. we've got a new severe thunderstorm warning. this is for green and madison county, in tough parts of virginia. this storm makingit s way towards culpeper, over towards

drew. >> reporter: such a he tbreaking story, leon. we are hearing from the father of one of those victims. he's actually also the grandfath to those two orphans you mentioned. tonight he's beginning the two ss of adopting those kids all while he waits to learn who killed his daughter. offibirs are still for clues a day and a half later since three people were found dead inside of their spotsylvania county home. a toddler and an infant were also found inside. they're unharmed. police say the three were killed with aha srp object. >> they're not telling us how it hpened or anything else. >> reporter: that's the voice of richard ozuna. his daughter rachel was the woman who was killed. the teen arager was her son kyr and the adult male was her boy friend. the family is devastated and at a loss. the teenager's father, the person's ex is the person who

it definitely looks likehere was a tornado there. take a look as these storms ruled on through. i'm going to take you through this and show you where it was. it was right in this area. look at all that lightning right around the frederick area. then watch how this moves into howard county right there. a ght here you see this big time storm. n of lightning there. we were on the air at this time. a tornado warning in effect for howard county including the columbia area. now we're seeing some of the damage there. chopper 4 is over that sceneri t now surveying some of that damage. i have seen numerous reports or numerous areas wp rig. right there. just zoom on in to that area. i'm watching c pper as well as talking to you guys. let's take a look and show you what's happening now. here is chopper right here. u can see some damage from that house. look at these trees right there. stop right tifre. ou can hear me, look right there. i want to zoom in. they're leaving me again.

there's some moreouses. look at these trees here. once again, these trees are sheared off in the middle. these aren't thrown straight over like straight line winds. they're sheared off in the middlebout 10 to 15 feet up. that tells us there was a tornado hopping around. this was probably a very weak tornado. look at the damage here. look at all these trees down in cris area. this is some inible video showing us that there was, indeed, a tornado in this region. anytime you see trees like this that are kindeaf shed apart, notice all the little white areas? that's actually the inside of trees that have been taken off by this tornado. again, this goes along with the video i've seen. it goes along with the video i'veseen out in ijamesville as well that there was a tornado there. officially we can't say that yet until the national weather service goes out. i'm sure they'll be o there tomorrow. look at the reports here. these are all wind damage reports from that possible tornado and that storm that came

around i-70 and then more damage down around virginia, in through prince william county, in through parfa of fair county, including this one. look at woodbridge here. a tr on a house in woodbridge. we have seen numerous trees on houses as a result of the strong wind a now we're tracking more storms back to the southwest. most of this will be on the moderate to heavy side at times. once this gets out here, things change big time for tomorrow. tomorrow is going to be a much nicer day, but not everybody out of the threat for thunderstorms. >> absolutely. if you're south and west of washington, in fact, the d.c. metro area, you could be seeing some widely scattered thunderstorms moving through to areas like luray, fauquier unty, down into parts of fredericksburg. high temperature tomorrow of 85. a comfortable day. the humidity levels are nicend low. mostly to partly sunny skies. here's the chance for showersd thunderstorms south and west of washington later in the day. here's future weather at noon. we're dry. we have plenty of sun.

look at what happens at 2:00 p.m. we hit 4:00 p.m. notice some rain around fredericksburg, southern fauquier county as we continue towards 6:00, the d.c. metro area, areas to the north completely dry.ng we're noticiome heavy rain and potentially some rumbles of thunder around fredericksburg and the northern neck. tomorrow night it isoing to be perfect out there. beautiful nig fire up the rill and eat al fresco. also a niceol day overall. most of us will stay completely dry. thuth and west of washington, especially norn virginia, you could be dealing with rain. an awesome pool day on saturday. upper 80s. it's a bit perfect day to take a dip on sunday. we'll have thunderstorms around later in the day. trose thunderstorms could potentially be sng but not a huge severe risk on sunday. the chance for thunderstorms on sunday coming in at about 50%. so the weekend most of it is going to be dry. but again, all the focus right now is o the damage reports

across the area. the chopper has been fantastic with getting these pictures for us. we had some new pctures right now. >> i want to show you those pictures. we've got chopper 4 right now. this is right over parts of howard county. this was definitely a tornado. there's a couple ways i know this. one, you could tell by thehe sed trees. two, you look for the path. you see the path? look at the path right there. these treesre fine. these trees are fine. there's your path of a tornado that came up through parts of howard county andar just she off the tops of these trees. this tornado went right behind this house right here, probably went right over this house. what happens, notice how these trees -- go back, chopper. go back. i want to go back to where we just were. once again, here is where a down.o touched nothing over here. nothing over here. this was definitely a tornado that came through. this looks to me, we've got one here, we've got one here. this could have been a multiple tornado meaningou have one

vortex and mini tornadoes inning around it. this might have been a very small tornado just whipping right throughere. u might have had a couple tornadoes in a much larger rotation. this is fascinating photographer weve got going on with chopper 4. i'll toss it become in to you guys. >> can i ask you? can you explain why the trees get snapped off halfway up? >> yes. absolutely. the big thing is you've got within a tornado you've got that strong wind. this tornado might have been 40, 50 feet wide. that's it. you're going from 20, 30 mile per hour winds and get the tornado with 80 mile an hour winds. normally in a severe thunderstorms, you getthinds move a tree like this and the tree is able to move and ebb and flow in that storm. you get a tornado, it goes from5 10 to to 80 just like that and it just takes the top of the trees. look at this right here. look how this is sheared around. see how that tree is all

you can't really see it, but ctere is's big change under way. the refng pool is slowly being drained for repairs. a broken water line affected the water quality inol the po this spring. the lack of circulation led to the growth of algae and the noticeable green tint to the water. the park service tells us they don't use hoses for this. they just flip a switch in the pump house to drain it. it's going to take five or six days for that process. then work crews will repair the line, clean the poo and refill it. everything should be back to normal by the week of jne 16th. lgbt pride month and the capital pride alliance here in d.c. justun annoced grand marshals for next weekend's parade. the byu valedictorian who came

the heaviest storms have come through. this is chopper 4, right over 32, right around where that car was. chopper is going to move up to the north here with me. i want to move up here. you see all of these treesdown. keep going, keep going, i want to go up. look at all of these trees down. look at this. the amazing part is look at these garages. these are not we l made aok at all of these trees. just destroyed here. this entire row of trees. theseare all pine trees, guys. they snap a lot faster. look at them all. just incredible damage now coming out of our area. i have not, hwever, seen muc in the way of structural damage to any of these houses that are out there. that is very good news. it is all along thissame line, though. numerous trees down. you can see the debris around this house, but right now we have not heard of any injuries either. that's very good news. we'll continue to keep you posted on what's going on. we're not done just yet.

i-team. the i team several teachers and learned why they say they're walking away. e rything is big in the refrigeration business. jared mounds works for his family company in frederick county, virginia. his previous job had some real heavy lifting. >> i thought driver's ed, health, p.e., coached wrestling and coached baseball. >> jared and his wife carrie were both tehers. >> i loved interacting with the kids. >> until they walked away. just like heather in county, maryland, who is planting seeds for a new career. hnter a decade teaching math at thomas jon high, she left the classroom to start a farm windh her husband and spemore time with her kids. >> i thought for 12 years and if i could have figured out a way to leave work at work, i would have figured it out in that

period of time. >> we reviewed district reports and found concerns about the looming shortages of teachers. in virginia it is considered worsening. in maryland it is caed persistent. in d.c. a state board of education member said the constant churn is devastating. staffing reports with the freedom of information act shows some school districts losine betwe8% and 13% of school teachers in one year's time, some retiring, some moving to nother district, some leaving the profession all together. >> the i-team wanted to know what's the numbers. we surveyed teachersro thhout our region asking why they're leaving and what would convince them to say. the results came flooding in. nearly 5,000 responses. more than 80% of those teachers cknowledge having considered changingeers the past two years alone. nearly 40% cited stress as a factor folwed by lack of support, student behavior, and salary. many also blamed distractions o student cell phones and

pressures from testing. when we asked what would makemo them likely to stay, the majority cited pay, more support, and bette student behavior. >> we have not lifted up the role of teachers the same way in this society for the last 25 years that we shouldhave. >> in fairfax county the superintendent says they're taking action to cut the losses with% a 6erage pay hike for teachers last year. >> we put smore expectations on teasters over the la 20 years than ever before. >> the school signd some of its own high school students to return to fairf>> to teach. if you can convince future achers before they graduate high school. >> before they graduate. >> to keep more of their own, prince george's county and frederick cou y maryland are also raising. while in loudoun county, school administrators rely on mentoring programs to lp new teachers grow. like tatyana who just started her teaching career. >> we have support where needed and that's what keeps me going. i have people that i can count

we've got another tornado warning. this is an ongoing tornado. this i drchtifferent than everything before. this is for orange county and spotsylvania county. i said early this would be comg very close to fredericksburg. this tornado warning is until 7:30. again, a tornado warning nowth wihis storm right here. this one's going to have a lot of hail associated with it too. you tell by thesera two sepa cores. you can see a little bit of a

radar. when you're farther away from the radar, the radar is not able to see all the toy down in the storm. it's looking a little bit higher into the atmosphere. because of that, we're showing that rotation thereis is th on the ground or not? we don't have confirmation right now. this is just radar indicated. you can see it's about 55, 60 atles away from the radar site, so at th level you're shooting over the rotation. you're seeing the whole symptom is rotating. if you're in spoylvania county, this is a very impressive storm. we showed you video coming through columbia area a little bit earlier as the storms ran on through. you're going to see those low clouds first and then the rain is going to be making its way docu. on this rrent path you'll be making its way towards the granite springs area and around jonesby 7:17. watch out for this region right here. this is is going to go just north. right along 20. if you live along and south of 20, this is where any damage would be from this storm would
