up a few minutes from virginia beach. right now all lanes on route 50 in anne arundel count are back open after being shut down for hours because of a police-involved shooting. police say last night just before 10:00 there was a report of a possible crash involving a pedestrian on route 50 eastbound right before maryland 244 we're told the anne arundel fire depament was immediately confronted by an armed man. that's when fire cruise call kd police. an officer arrived minutes later. when the suspect didn't drop his weapon e officer shot suect. >> our officer is okay and e suspect agency of right now treated at an area hospital rett threatenin the details. as of this moment stale live at an area hospital being treated.

a gunshot victim, you'll have serious injuries, as far as status, ion't know. authorities say they don't know if an accident actually happened or just a call to get officials at the scene. you can see on your screen a very busy scene along that stretch of road. thealso say there was a lot of people on the scene there when this whole ordeal happened. that's why officers now are questioning witnesses on the scene. new details this morning about the local couple found dead while vacationing in the dough min yin public. the couple was from prince george's county. from upper marlboro the victims' family member, in shock. >> it just hurts. >> reporter: dejuan hamilton is filled with sadness as he eyes fill up with ars. >> i'll never see my father

lot. two men inside were shot. one victim died on the cene. e other man was taken to the hospital. no word on the condition right now. and a special meeting held friday after a call by governor larry hogan for anat investn into the university of maryland's deadly virus outbreak. the university's board of th ents has been tasked w looking into the outbreak that sickened 35 people including freshman olivia parago who died. news 4 spoke with her father. >> reporter: the university board of regents now tasked with investigating the circumstances of the dea of a student. it's something her father has been pushing for for months but wants to make sure the investigation is independent. i spoke to him by phone. >> the thing that concerns us is who's going to do the investigation? >> rorter: olivia was a university of marylandn freshma living at this hall when she got sick.
