look at that. almost looks like golf ball sized hail. montgomery county was not spared. this is video of the hail falling pretty fast in silver spring. a backyard there. that little kiddy pool gting hammered. some of it landed, as you see there, right in there we saw pretty similar scenes in a lot of places around the area. it wasn't hail but downed trees that caused problems here in montgomery county. a tree nearly split a home in half. we talked to somef oe people who had to clean up the mess. but we begin with breaking news tonight. good evening, i'm erica gonzalez. lightning strikes oners peon in prince william county and injures four others. the incident was at a picnic pavilion at a state park just south of wood bridge. we're t pd theson struck has

serious injuries. the victims were all takingel shter from the storm when the lightning hit. the storms knocked out power to thousands of people across our region and it aso caused plenty of damage. we've got live team coverage tonight on the storm team 4 weather alert. we begin with news 4's darcy spencer who is live in bethesda. darcy? >> reporter: erika, i can tell you there is a lot of work to do to get things cleaned up in this neighborhood. if youndake a look behime, you see this tree. it was across the roadway. fortunately it's b sived to the . the road has re-opened. but i want to show you what's going on across the street here. you can see a tree split and it fell against the house where people had just finished celebrating a girl's 10th birthday. it started with hail and wind. the storm knocked down trees all over this bethesda neighborhood and in the district off western avenue.nd trees aranches down. some of them blocking roads.

we've reached out to resort police in theep dominican rublic today to find out how a prince george's county couple died inside their hotel room. cynthia day and nathaniel holmes were staying at a resort when they were found dead last . thursday their families told news 4 today that the autopsies have been completed and their bodies have been released from the medical examiner. dominican repuic authorities are still not saying how they died. they told news 4's shomari stone last friday that they want answers and closure. this is from the family. >> i found out. i picked up the phone and just kept calling his phone.ho my was almost dead because i wasn't having an answer.
