details on the changes. justin? >> reporter: hey th aaron, eun, good morning. the goal here to get traffic and people moving swiftly and smoothly. todayress buses beginning will leave directly from the thuntington station from north and south sides and not just one side. you might recall during week one of the shutdown, we did see those buses serving both sides of the station here. and that means it was very easy for a comter who had been waiting for a long timeto wait only to find a full bus and miss getting to work on time. school, as well. that's changing today. now we can tell you this, too, this should be hopefully relief for thoseet thousands of m riders ho have been -- who have been in long lines waiting, asking questions of those workers here in yellow vests. as part of this summer service s tdown, it's just beginning here iour area, those six stations south of the reagan national airport now closed for repairs.

cynthia day and nathaniel hamm were found dead in their hotel room. the families want answers about what exactly happened. news4'sh megan mcgrat following this from the embassy of the dominican republic. good morning. >> reporter: well, good morning. yeah, ortainly a lot unanswered questions here. a prince george's county family is hoping to learn eitheroday or tomorrow when they can bring the bodies of their loved ones home. 50-year-old cthia day a her fiance, 63-year-old nathaniel olmes, were found dead in their hotel room at thtel in the dominican republic on thursday. now according to dominican todac a lo news service, the bodies showed no signs of violence. now the family says they still n't know what happened. they're just shocked and devastated by the loss. day and holmes had been posting pictures on their facebook page of their vacation, lots of ur smiling pictes of the two

urbana still have the crash hanging around on theshoulder. just the tiniest slowdown as folks are wondering what's going on as they head outer loop, inner loop, earlier problem at bw parkway on the outer loop has cleared so no real issues right now on the beltway. northbound 295, suitland parkway, right lane is getting by the work ne. that was an earlier problem thal is new out of the way. that's great news. 66 into town here, forecast beltw to the beltway, 56 miles per hour, takes you nine minutes. eun? >> ank you. these long lines for a metro shuttle bus are hopefully getting a fix today. metro says it's making changes to the huntington-pentagon express shuttle which will hopefully cut down on the long lines and travel times. >> news4's justin finch is live at theon huntingt station with details on the changes there. good morning. good orter: aaron, eun, morning. of course a rocky week one here at the huntington station for ir that f week of those service shutdown repairs here at the

station and those other five south of reagan national airport. the hope is that with the tweaks starting today they see shorter wait times and shorter lines. we've got a few people waiting for buses,ut not terribly long. the express buses will leave from the huntington station to the pentan and willserve the north and south ends of the station. that means that people will see more bus service more frequently because last week those buses had been served both sides. that meant full buses filling up fast. people waiting for a long time, never getting a ride on time. so this is going to heat up around the top commute times, peak times, just the morning commute right now. ate hope is th we'll see shorter travel times. fewer crowds, as well as an increased rider experience ere. as you look out live, a few buses justice leaving here from the -- bus just leaving here from the station. some peopl waiting in line, but nothing like what we saw last

week. the hope is this will continue many at there won't be as complaints going forward about bus service and getting to that pentagon station on the express bus. live here in alexandria, i'm justinfinch, news4. back to you. >> thanks. back now to that severe weather that moved through our t.region last nigh we've learned several people were injured by a lightning n strike i prince william county. the national weatheservice says the incident happened at a picnic pavillionso uth of woodbr ige. one per struck and is being treated for serious injuries. four others were hurt by debris. the victims were all taking shelter from the storm when the lightning hit. powerful winds uprooted huge trees in other parts of the region. a tree fell on to this home that was under construction. it causede extens damage in aspen hi. in montgomery county downed trees and power lines aused problems for people all over the area. you can see more in the nbc washington app. 5:35.

this morning, no arrests have f been made ar someone fired shots at a tow truck in prince geothe's county. is happened yesterday afternoon in langley park near jasmine terrace and rigsroad. the driver was trying to tow a car when the shooting happened. no one was injured. police in howard county are on the hunt for a murder suspect.k loot the screen. rain dellinger shot and killed jacob mower in ellicott city saturday. he shot hhe victim whilee was sitting in his car on montgomery tad. they're trying figure out hat led to the shooting but say drugs wereinvolved. a quick look at some of the top stories. 5:35. the man police say carried out a shooting at a virginia beach government office quit his job hours before the shooting. 40-year-old dewayne craddock e-mailed his boss that morning. later that day, he shot and killed 12 p aple during shooting rampage that lasted 36 minutes. he was eventually shot by police and later died.
