both directions between 7th and 10th streets. and alsolosed is 9th street between d and constitution. whai was told on the scene is that investigator want to take a look at the area, look for evidence once the sun comes up. so this entire area, we are expecting the closure to remain in place until that happens.co id be a couple of hours here until they get the daylight that they needo continue with that investigation. a major closure here, a pennsylvaniavenue closed in fboth directions inront of the justice department. and 9th street also closed. now terms of the shooting itself,ot a lot of information at this poht. we know t it happened around 2:00 in the morning. one person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. but that's basically all we have on the shooting itself. folks who travel thugh this area, especially in the ng beginni of the rush hour, the early part of the rush hour, expect someys major dela here as you're going to have to work

your way around the large closure. back toou. >> mental health live fcggan mt. thanks. this morning a hotel in the idominican republic isng new information about the deathc of an am who was on vacation. >> three americans diedys withi daf each other while staying at the same resort complex. they were at different hotels but just minutes away from each other. miranda shop warner fm pennsylvania died on may 25th. international reports said she died -- initial reports said she died of respiratory failure. the hotel now says she was sick when she arrived and died from a heart attack. her husband told the hotel she d a pre-existing heart condition. nathaniel holmes and cynthia day from prince george's county died five days lateu the case of their deaths was also listed as respiratory failure. ice attorney general of the dominican republow says the investigation into the deaths is not this morning, all hotels in the bominican republic haveeen put on notice by the country's

when officers arrived, thefo und the man's body. police tell news4 there was a large crowd gathered at the scene, butle few peop were willing to talk to officers. not long after police arrived, a teen showed up at a hospital g sufferinfrom a gunshot wound. he's expected to be okay. the man who died has not been identified. so far, no arrests have been made. this morning we're learning well the efforts to take down a man who opened fire in a government building last friday. 12 people died. police said they were delayed getting to him because they didn't have the necessary key cards to open doors on the second floor othe building. that technology is meant to protect people from workplace violence. in this case it may have delayed the response. the medical officer reveals the shooter was killed by police and did not kill himself. among those killed, former public work director chris rapp. family and friends gathered for

part of the city. >> someone was shot by the justice department building. megan mcgrath joins us live from the scene with the latest. what's going on? >> reporter: i can tell you that the closure here, and it's a rather large area that's been closed down, it's having an impact on traffic already. you s the cars that are turning around here. i'm standi9t on h street, and it is blocked at d. just to give you context he, is is the side of the fbi building that you're looking at. and if we pan over, there's the justice department. investigators folksing at the corner of 9 -- focusing at the corner of 9th. pennsylvania avenue is closed in oth directions between 7th and 10th. and you see if we look further down the street, you see on 9th street here, the closure goes all the way to constitution avenue. we're told by poli here on the scene that investigators want to take a look at the area and want

she's one of three americans who died at the same sort last month. initial reports said she died of respiratory failure, b the hotel now says she died from a heark.attac nathaniel holmes and cynthia day from prince george's county died five days later. espiratory failure was also listed as their cause of death. the attorney general of the dominican republic now says the investigation into these deaths is not over. a plan is dead and a enager hurt after -- a man is dead and a teenager hurt after a shooting nehe maryland line. one man was found dead at the scene. the teen later showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound. no wor on a possible suspect. maryland is moving forward with plans to widen and add toll planes along i-270 nd the beltway. yesterday the board of public works voted to allow private doumps start bidding on -- companies to start bidding on this massive transportation projet. hrics say the plan hasn't been thought tough and worry it will fall apar the project is expected to cost

agreement over borde security yesterday. news4'sve tracie potts is li on capitol hill with the latest on the negotiations. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. they resume today.ru president t weighing in from overseaay this morning sing they're making progress, but they're just not there yet. he still expects the tariffs will kick in on monday. his bu-- his punishment to mexi for not doing more at the border. a senior official telling us what's going on behind the scenes. mexico has offered to put more troops at the border and has also offered to crack down on drugs. nothing specific there. it's not enough for the trump administration. they want all detainees to stay on the other side of the border. right now some do, some don't. they want more legal agreement th the centralmerican countries to more quickly deport people when they cross into the u.s. that's whe they stand as the negotiations resume today.
