shoulder. prince george's county police, maryland park police, they're all breaking down their equipment now, but this is still an active crime scene so we't couldn get any closer. let me give you a closer look at what it looks like over there. prince george's county police are saying they have a suspect in custody. no weapon at this time. no reports of any injuries. but earlier this afternoon at the elementary school when a man went into the school and was allegelyct ag very strangely as someone thought they saw a gun. hear now from a womans who work at the community next door that's connected to the school. here's what her ploys told her they saw. >> he pulled his pants down, pled them back up and left out. i advised alicia to lock the front door. once she locked the door, i don't know how he ended up coming back into the school and he took a ring off one of the employee's fingersd i think that may be a person that was in the after car program. then he left out.

>> reporter: we can tell you that police were called here about 9:3ni this m. as you said, they went to a home in the middle of this block y hind me. thed to force their way into the home. when they got there, the husband was still alive. neighbors consoled one another outside the home as news of the tragedy spread. >> it's heartbreakiea to h something so close to home. >> reporter: police were called to the 4300 block this morning to check on the welfare of one of the people living in a house in the middle of the block. >> theytually had to force entry. >> reporter: police chief peter newsham said once officers had forced their way into the home, they found the husband holding a idgun. police dtry to talk to him. >> there was some limited ti communica and then unfortunately he took his life. >> reporter: after the altercation with the husband, police oarched the hme and they found the wife's body >> this appears to be a domestic murder/suicide. >> reporter:ewsham says the couple did have two young children who were at a nearby

happening. people were able to salvage some of the items from their burned out home. you have a work crew here doing some final they put up a fence around the property. getting ready to board this up. and while many people losve ething here, they say they're thankful that no one was hurt. it ripped through this row of townhouses leaving seven families with no place to go. the fire broke out around 9:00 in the morning. three firefighters were transported for heat exhaustion. >> it's emotional. i can only imagine what it's like to lose everything you have. pictures, memories, clothes, everything. it's hard to describe. it's not easy nowadays. >> grace grant was getting ready for work. she grabbed her phone and purse and got out. >> i'm glad that i'm alived an all my neighbors are alive and i don't know what the next step is going to be. >> reporter: her neighbors are in the same situation. they lost everything. many had already left for work

scan in joe krbs' continuing battle against pancreatic cancer. next stop, the hospital's infusion center where he and his wife are now well acquainted with the staff. this part of easier than the bitter pill our former news 4 colleague had to swallow years ago when he first learned that what he thought was some kind of stomach flu was actually a foreboding diagnosis of the cancer. >> very few people we actually cure of the disease. >> the scan will determine if radiation treatment has continued to work to zap what ats spread beyond the pancreas. joe says this isely painless. the hard part is waiting for the results and trying not to second guess the outcome. back at the hospital a week

later, mary lynn is hopeful they'll get good news because the doctor hadn't called. >> one time when the news wasn't so good he called immediately after the scan to let him know whatwas showing, but this past time he texted, so that in itself was good. >> every time a scan comes along, it's ant mo of truth. so it's like i covered during my career, i covered a lot of trials. it's like waiting for the jury to come back with a verdict. there is incredible tenson in the courtroom when that jury walks back into the room because you don't know whatthey're going to say. >> good to see you. it is officially good to see you. >> that sounded good, but what would the scan show? >> these are your lungs. >> he pointed out an area that could have kusuffered a slight injury. >> every time we radiate something, we do risk damaging the normal lung. the important part, n new ones popped up. >> the hope and prayer is that these scans will continue to bring good news. >> i hope so.
