police searched the home and found his wife ar45-ye-old lola also shot and killed. neighbors who knew that couple say they're shocked. >> it's heartbreaking to hear something so close to home. >> according to court documents the couple was in the process of divorcing. in fact, supposed to have a child custody hearing set for yesterday. that pair had small children w re in school at the time of the shooting. the family flying in to take care of those kids. terrifying moments, meantime, atle an entary school in prince george's county, placed on lockdown while police responded to calls of an active shooter. ricardo joseph campbell allegedly entered that school and started making threatens statements there. witnesses tell us he apparently took off some clothes as he left the scene. police latne lear the suspect's grill lighter was mistaken for a gun and the school day was already over there but there was a small

group of children in the building f an after-school program. no one hurt and campbell later placed in custody. today marks eight days since the shooting massacre at virginia beach's municipal building and al surviva story may play into the handsof governor ralph northam. he set july 9th for the day for a special session of the general assembly. a worker inside the building said the shots did not sound like a gun that likely delayed people from running for cover. the shooter was using a silencer, as we know. the legality of silencers likely is among ts ies to be considered at the special session along with universal background checks and ban on assault rifles. republican lears tell news 4th say have their own ideas about gun violence and will enter that ate session and guniolence awareness

washington app. some of you know our colleague joe has been fighting pancreatic almost t years. e's at the event today and talked to news 4's barbara harrison about hisreatment and how he's doing now. >> how are you? i got your breakfast here. >> good. >> it's great. >> reporter: it's prep for another scan and joe krebsnt uing battle against pancreatic cancer. next stop the hospital's infusion center where he and his wife mary lynn are well acquainted with the staff. >> all right. pep breath. >> reporter: thisart was easier than the bitter pill our former news 4 colleague had to swallow two years ago when he first learned what he thought was a stomach flu was acally a foreboding diagnosis of perhaps the world's most feared cancer. >> almost everybody who gets diagnosed with pancreatic cancer still today is actually dieing of the disease. there are very few people we actually cure of the disease.

>> reporter: the scan will determine if radiation treatment continued to work to sto the metastases that spread beyond the pancreas. joe says this is the easy part. it's hard not to second-guess the outcome. they are hopeful to get good news this time because the doctor hadn't called. >> one time when the news wasn't so good he calmed immediately after the scan to let him mow what was showing. but this pass time he textedthat in itself is good. >> you know, every time a scan comes along, it's a moment of truth. so it's like -- i covered during my career a lot of trials. it's like -- waiting for the jury to come back with the verdict. there is incredible tension inou the crtroom when that jury walks back in to the room, beuseyou don't know what they're going s ay.
