standing at the desk. what do we know right now, dave. >> this is very much developing right now. hers what we do know. ortiz was at a bar in the dominican republic. it was an attempted robbery in santo domingo. police say that the gunman was arrested. ortiz is at a local hospital getting treatment. we're working to find out more about his condition, w whiche don't know and the events that led up to the gunfire. ortiz's father told espn at this moment everything is very confusing. yes, indeed, known as big papi for two decades before he retired, he was a larger thanli figure, three wiers titles with the red sox, wiers mvp in 2013and a ten-time all-star. we'll keep you posted and have

smoke just sort of barreling from the second floor there. firefighters were focused on the upstairs balcony. the home is right in the middle of a whole bunch of rowhouses there. it's unclear if the fire spreadh to the ot homes. the good news here is that nobody was injured and we are in still work to learn the cause of this. a five-year-old child is at children's hospital in d.c. after being attacked by two family dogs in st. mary's county. maryland state troopers on friday say a rottweiler attacked the child inside a home in lexington park. a second family dog a shar-pei mix the started to attack the child as well. people in the neighborhood were able to get inside the home and get the dogs off the five-year-old. the childct is expe to survive. we're told that animal control took the dogs away. a big voting day this week
