news4 begins with a storm team 4 weather alert. >> and thank you for joining us on this "news4 midday." i'm erika gonzales. >> this is a storm team 4 wther alert day on a monday. let's send it to lauren ricketts. hi, lauren. >> hello, guys. yes, a weather alert day out there. doesn't look like much right now, but rain is headed our way. not a lot ofain in our area. we are seeing some popup light sprinkles in western maryland right now, but for the most part, we're going to be watching this frontal system that will spark showers and thunderstorms as we head into the afternoon. some of those could be strong, flash flood watch in effect for this afternoon. let's talk more about that coming up inbout 20 minutes.

>>we'll see you then, lauren, thank you. now to breaking news in montgomery county. seven people were hurt in a crash near georgetown prep. this all unfolded about an hour ago. take a look at these images from c pper 4. police say a pickup truck hauling a trailer crashed into several vehicles at georgetown prep's entrance. you can see here a utility pole was also damaged. right now montgomery county police have closed southbound rockville pike, northbound still has some lanes getting by. also breaking right now, police in dallasnre working o an active shooter situation. according to our nbc stion there, the suspected shooter is in custody. no word on injuries right now. is is a fluid situation near the federal courthouse in downtown dallas. we're also hearing that police are searching for a possible device. you can see a bomb robot there in this video, and we will update you on the situation as soon as we learn more information. also developing this morning, the u.s. supreme court sent a wedding cake dispute back

to the state courts in oregon. the dispute began in 2013 when the owners of a bakery refused to provide aake for a lesbian commitment ceremony. the owner said it went against their religious principles. while the couple argued the bakery violated law. also just in, t supreme court just ruled the ongoing virginia gerrymandering case. moments ago, the court ruled thatis virginia legtors lack the legal right to appeal a lower court ruling that requires 11 state legislative districts to be racial gerrymanradering. for more on that ruling, go to our nbc ashington ap now to prince george's county where a family is heartbroken after a teenager was hit anilled nea. >> he was struck by a car. he was an honor student and rising freshman in highchool. news4's molette green is live with more on this developing and

filling the air. a nearby house was damaged and two people were hurt in this. a little boy ng recoveri this morning after becoming the third shark attack victim on the north carolina coast in just a tter of weeks. experts say the chances of being attacked are extremely slim. but the recent incidents come right at the start of the summer travel season. nbc's kerry sanders reports. >> reporter: vacationers go to north carolina for summer fun and sun. but for an 8-year-old boy, the pristine waters near the cape ooi terrifying when a shark attacked him near the shore. >> responding to a shark bite. >> reporter: the shark gr bed him bythe leg, but left him with only puncture wounds. it's the third reported shark e north carolina coast this month alone. 19-year-old surfer austin reid suffered a bite to his foot last week, leaving him with a ten-inch wound. and two weeks ago,17-year-old

the 80s. low to mid 80s across the board. headed to around 90 for daytime highs. we drop once we get storms in her but they'll start popping up 2:00 in the northwestern suburbs and linger south and east from there. i'm going to keep a chance of a shower into the late evening, even into the overnight, as well. if you're headed out to nats' park, justow there could be rain delay. hard to say there's going to be one at 7:05 as they take on the phillies.a few showers north and west th.ough western maryland we've got a frontal system that kind of goes all the way back down towards kentucky. so, again, a few showers and thunderstorms possible as that frontal system s ks south a little bit. sunshine now, but more clouds later. let's go ahead and start this. you can see by 2:00, here's some of the storms developing. 2:30 or so. and theycontinue to push towards the i-95 corridor. 5:00, just in time for the evening commute, of course. and, again, heavy downpours are ssible.o be p then we'll continue with
