suspects. we are working to learn more information about how all of this unfolded. this is though the same town where democratic presidential candidate pete buttigieg serves as mayor.ay stith us throughout the hour as news develops. of course, you can stay up to date on our nbc washington app. we are also following breaking news back here closer to home in fairfax county. >> a man's dead body was discoveredear hunter woods plaza in reston. derrick ward is live from the scene with what we know. good morning, derrick. >> reporter: good morning. well, this remains a crime scene. this section of the trail behind hunters woods plaza remains closed as it has been since 1:45 this morning. that's when police first got the call for what appeared, or what sounded like fireworks ort gunshos. it turns out it's probably the latter. take o look at s of the video we have from earlier. you can see detectives leaving the scene with some evidence. appears to be some personal belongings. again all we know about the

identity of the victim isahat it' male. as we are saying, at about 1:45 police got the call for a report of what sounded like fireworks or girl scouts here. when they arrived they went down the trail. now we hear from the head ofec detves what he found. >> as patrol units got on scene they started canvassing the area,alking the trails. they found a male who seemed to be injured, called for fire and rescue. when they came on scene they pronounced the person as ,ad. sorry pronounced him as deceased. >> reporter: now, this trail is pretty heavily traveled, especially at this time of day asget a little bit later in the morning. on a cool morning like this. at the other end you have theto bretwoods court and there are some houses there, apartments on either side here. again police haven't done much in the way of identifying the suspect, sorry, the victim, onl that s a male. they say that they are asking anyone who might have heard anything or seen anything to get in touch with them. but at this point still an open
