news4 is covering this debate. here's our coverage from the press center. so much to unpack from round one here. >> reporter: so much ground covered here tonight. obviously we also saw a l of attention paid to president trump early on in this debate, but the candidates here tonight, we knew that elizabeth warren was coming in as sort of the one to beat going into this debate and we wondered whether she would deliver with high expectations on her, i think she did. we also saw we were expecting the other candidates to breakthrough, to be present and shown in this debate tonight and to do of them were abl just that. we're going to dig a little deeper in some of the more gated exchanges. first we want to a lay of the land, exactly what we saw tonight. for that jay gray is with us i hereside the spin room as well. good evening? >> you talked about warren being the driver in this

how they wanted to deal with some of the issues around immigration. and in particular today, after we saw that image, that photo that came out earlier today of the father and daughter who died trying to across the rio grande river on the southern border, there was an exchange that started with that, take a listen to wh theysa had to about immigration and migrants. >> that image of the faily, is heartbreaking and should make us all mad. >> i will make sure that we end the i.c.e. policies and the customs and border policies that are violating human rights. >> when somebody comes across the border not to criminalize desperation, to treat that as a civil violation. >> for allhe american citizens out here who feel the american dream is not working for you, mi the imants didn't do that to you. >> i think you should do your homework --if
