our roads. is it just me or does it seem like this is happenin a lot in the last week or so. police say two vehicles crashed on river road at old river road ld in poolesville, maryland. one of thevehicles, a pickup truck crashed into another car. the person in the car -- killed. at least one person killed in that collision. river road is now closed. and is closed between esworthy roond and seneca road. we'll keep an eye onchopper 4, these are live pictures you're seeing now. news4's derek ward is headed to the crash. we have one fatality near the bretton woods golf course in poolesville at river road and old river road. and once eragain, riv road closed between esworthy road and seneca road. we'll keep you posted. >> thank you, wendy. g

we'll back to you soon. now let's turn back to the final preparations for the president's huge july 4 extravaganza. >> celebrations are plannedfor both ends of the national mall. >> that includes the capitol 4th concert on the west lawn. tonight marks the cress rehearsal and for some that's a great annual tradition, to get out and see the performers without having to deal with tf ireworks or crowds. thousands of police officers and the d.c. national guard are going to be fanned out all across the district. we just spoke with the d.c. police chf about that and cory joins us live near the mall what did you hear? >> well the chief's messge was cloer, his department will be ready tomorrow. not just at the president's big celebration, capitol 4th. but across the city. let's show y when we saw earlier today on the mall as preparations continue to really kind of get a sense of where we

stand today. the stage where the president will be giving his big speech is almost completely bullproof. partitions are put up in place to protect him. security is tight around the national mall. natial guard troops are deployed. in addition to officers from many local and federal agencies thell be on hand no doubt for crowd control among many other owuties. nne thing that was really cool to see. we've been talking about it, the tanks, they've been rolled into place, these are two of the smaller vehicles being put into position for thet' presid big speech, salute to america where he will honor each branch of the military tomorrow. now look we all remember thele ve we saw on memorial day, a lot of folks worry putting so many police resources on the apitolr the salute to america. may leave other parts of the cityerundstaffed. but the police chief was adamant, that nobody's police service would be impacted.

rosecutors can have their own psychiatrist evaluate hogle. the children's father was in court. which would have been jacob's sertnth ay. >> some way this is kind of a birthday gift for him. you know it's a step towards justice for my son and my daughter. it's, it doesn't make it easier. >> once the new evaluation is in completed, august, it will be up to the judge to decide if katherine hole can go on trial. >> safety is a top priority as people take to the water over the 4th. and the weeken just this morning a reston couple was killed in a jet ski crash in anne arundel county. the couple's bodies were recovered from the south river in edgewater. on anne s six deaths arundel county waters in less than a week. coming up, ways to make sure you're safe on the water. another kind of water safety

concern, a warning for everyone heading to the beach this holiday weekend. a boy recently contracted a form of a esh-eating bacteria near ocean city. this has many parents worried about the safety of the waters. news4's darcy spencer spoke with health experts about what you need to do to keep your family safe this holiday. >> as many people prepare to hit the beaches and waterways this holiday, there's also concern about an invisible danger. flesh-eating bacteria. it's rare, but it can be deadly. a recent case was reported near ocean city. a mom says on facebook that her son contracted vibrio, a form of the bacteria after swimming in the bay outside ocean city. that's prompted health officials to alert public to take precautio precautions, we spoke to the head of the worcester county environmental programs viac fae-time. >> these are, these are present, in salty and brackish waters

which are waters that intermingle with coastal environments. >> he says it's still safe to swim and recreate, on the wat but you need to take precautions, especially if you have an open cut. >> if youo notice something within the day or two days, go seek medical attention immediately. don't let things fester. that's when people seem to have a problem. >> in maryland healthal offici say vibrio is present in the chesapeake bay and surrounding waterways. the health department says people with other medical issues have a higher risk of getti it. eating raw or undercooked sea food can put you at risk as well. the official name for the bacteria is innecrotiz fascitis. >> some of the symptoms would be an area of redness or swelling that's spreading rapidly. an area that's severely painful or associated with fever. >> darcy spencer, news4.
