in a letter from d.c. mayor bowser to president trump bowser writes that the district hasn't been reimbursed and is costing d.c. taxpayers millions. according to bowser, the federal government provides the district with a $13 million aual budget to cover those costs, but hasn't been making the payments, like the 2017 presidential inauguration. which cost the district $7.3 million. the city was never repaid. july 4th cost $1.7 million which depleted curnt funds. bowser says if the feds don't pay the fund will have a $6 million deficit by september. that means that the district ofl have to assume the cost not only providing first amendment and special events security throughout the uistrict, bt also for the president's personal protection motorcade, the vice president, members of his family. so the district will have to assume those costs. >> now we reached out to the white house for comment. they did not return our request

labor secretary alex acosta has spoken to estions for nearly an hour this afternoon. he's been facing a growing number of calls to resign. from democraticer lawm on the hill. this comes as acosta has faced new scrutiny for d a pleal cut that his office cut with jeffrey epstein a decade ago. erica gonzales is in the news room with more. >> secretary acosta tried to defend the actions of his office as h served as a federal prosecutor in florida and facing criticism over what some have called a lenient or sweetheart deal.
