designed. >> it will be about four stores tall. almost all of the employees will be on the first level. the second, third and fourth level are all robots, conveyer belts, different chutes and elevators to prove product around. >> reporter: he says off pennsylvania avenue was built with the promise of on site grocery stores and retail that ss yet to happen. the developers this center will spark what was promised. >> this logistics center will be the catalyst that we need to be able to get the retail component off the ground. >> reporter: these are the new site plan that is the developer will be handing out to residents on monday at a community meeting. there are a number of community meetings surrounding this project, one happening tomorrow, two next week and on thursday the developer goes back before the planning board at another hearing on this project. >> the developer for the project tells news4 construction will begin in the fall to improve roads in preparation for the

logistics center. now to a neighborhood inferno in west lafayette, indiana. flmes destroy five homes and heavily damaged four others late today. neighbors rushed to the homes to make sureobody was trapped inside. no one was injured here. the fire is believed to have started in a vacant house, but the cause is still under investigation. authorities in ohio along with the fbi are lking for this driver who hit a cleveland police officer and then just kept on driving off the scene. surveillance camras show the vehicle hitting this officer sending him flying into the air. the officer survived the crash bu is being treated for several injuriesme including so broken ribs. storm team 4 iski trac tropical storm barry right now. this is the first big storm of the season. >> that's right. barry is set to make landfall soon. nbc's jay gray is right in the middle of the action n inw orleans. jay, what are you seeing right now at this hour?

>> reporter: we're getting a bit of a break right now. some gustinginds and we've seen that throughout the evening. we've seen rain as well, but thankfully none at this point. we do know conditions are going to intensify over the next several hours and continue for the next couple of days, a very slowoving storm. wind is going to be an issue, but it's the water that's the biggest deal. flooding is a major concern for is entire rion. >> ja a lot of new orleans, we know, is below sea level. there's a maze of canals and pumping stations that are supposed to move t water out of the city. are they ready? >> reporter: yeah, they are ready. they're online. 118 of the 120 turbine and pumps are working and should do what they're supposed to do. like you talk about, most of this area is below sea level. getting a good st there.

so it creates a little bowl. even if it's pushing out water, there's onlyt so much ian push out. the other has nowhere to go and that's where the flooding is going to come into play. they know they'r going to hav standing water. they're urging people to be really respectful of that, wait until it clears aw until you get out and take a look. >> they are hurricane veterans down there. do you get a sense they are taking these orders eriously? >> reporter: i think for the most part everyone is. the streets have been relatively clear. we've had a few people come out and want to look ater the riv just because it's so high they've never seen it this way. i think they also have their ac plans in p and are prepared. they've got supplies, me fuel, everything they'll need for three, maybe four days. they could be spending that time without electricity. i think they're ready. >> here's hoping those levees hold. be careful, jay.
